Chapter 4 - Shiny Froakie

Led by the young attendant, Aaron and Yuri arrived at a warmer section of the shop.

The floor was lined with incubation stands, each platform displaying Pokémon Eggs of different sizes and colors.

"Dear guests… these are the Pokémon Eggs that just arrived at our store. Guaranteed fresh and full of vitality!"

"And we also offer free hatching services!"

The young woman spoke with a sweet smile.

Aaron could hardly contain himself and immediately began scanning the eggs with his system.

When Aaron's eyes landed on a blue Pokémon Egg, his pupils shrank sharply.

"Shiny Froakie!"

"Hidden Ability!"

"Champion-Class level potential!"

Those words struck his vision like lightning.

"Ding~ Mission triggered: Capture your first Pokémon~"

"Host must use a Poké Ball to capture the first Pokémon. Mission Reward: Pokémon Candy ×1, Energy Block ×1, Exp. Share ×1."

The system's voice echoed in his ears.

Aaron's heart leapt with joy. The system really was a walking treasure trove.

He swallowed discreetly, maintaining an outwardly calm expression, then continued scanning the remaining eggs.

In the end, the eggs with the highest potential were exactly the ones he had his eye on—the Shiny Froakie and the Mudkip.

Aaron quickly made up his mind. He would take the Froakie, and the Mudkip would go to Yuri.

Putting on an innocent, curious look, he examined one egg, then another, before "coincidentally" stopping in front of the Froakie Egg.

He turned to the attendant and asked, "Miss, how much is this Pokémon Egg?"

The young woman smiled brightly.

"Sir, this egg has vibrant coloration and strong vitality. It's 60,000."

"What!? That expensive!?"

"Then what about this one?"

Aaron put on a shocked expression and pointed at the Mudkip Egg.

"That one's a bit cheaper—50,000," she replied, still smiling.

"Ah… then sell us both together."

"Flat price, 100,000. Let's be straightforward." Aaron spoke with feigned impatience.

After a brief hesitation, the attendant agreed.

"Aaron, Aaron… are you sure about this?"

"I've heard that gambling on eggs ends in loss nine times out of ten."

"Isn't this too risky?"

Yuri leaned in and whispered nervously.

"Can you really buy a good Pokémon with just 100,000?"

"At best you'd get a low-species Pokémon with poor potential and no future."

"Better to take a gamble." Aaron replied seriously.

"Uh… alright!"

"You're right. Let's do it."

Yuri clenched his teeth and took the Mudkip Egg Aaron handed him, while Aaron held onto the Shiny Froakie Egg.

The two paid up, completing the transaction.

...

By now, quite a few people had gathered in the egg-gambling area.

Seeing Aaron and Yuri purchase Pokémon Eggs, the crowd grew interested and gathered around.

The two placed the eggs into the incubator and pressed the hatch button.

This world had invented a machine specifically for hatching Pokémon Eggs—the incubator.

It was incredibly advanced, capable of directly infusing energy into the eggs, greatly accelerating hatching speed without affecting development in the slightest.

"Buzz——"

The incubator flashed with a brilliant light.

"Crack… crack…"

The sound of eggshells breaking followed.

"Grandpa, Grandma… please bless me!"

"Let it be a Pokémon with high base stats!"

Yuri's hands trembled as he clasped them together, muttering nonstop.

A few seconds later, the light faded.

Two Pokémon appeared before everyone's eyes.

One was a small frog standing upright, its body pale blue and white—it was Froakie.

The other was a light-blue, four-limbed, fish-shaped Pokémon—Mudkip.

"Holy crap… Froakie and Mudkip!? Those are rare Pokémon!"

"One can evolve into Swampert with a base stat total of 535, and the other into Greninja with 530!"

"Just one look tells you their potential is massive. They might even reach Champion-Class level!"

"Damn! Champion-Class level potential! That's future top-tier material!"

"And that Froakie… isn't it Shiny!?"

"These two kids are insanely lucky. They actually gambled into such rare Pokémon—and one's Shiny!"

"Kid, you selling that Pokémon? I'll offer 200,000!"

"Bullshit—200,000 and you think you can buy it? I'll give 300,000!"

"I'll pay 400,000!"

...

The crowd erupted when they saw what Aaron and Yuri had hatched.

Several people even tried to grab them, asking if they were willing to sell the Pokémon.

There was no way Aaron would agree. He simply said "Sorry," pulled Yuri along, and left with the Pokémon in their arms.

Only a crowd full of regret remained behind.

Afterward, everyone rushed to buy up the remaining eggs in the shop.

Unfortunately, the Pokémon that hatched afterward were all rather underwhelming.

...

Aaron had no idea that his actions had just made the Champion Pokémon Shop a fortune.

By then, he and Yuri were already visiting other stores, buying several Poké Balls and some Pokémon food.

Thankfully, he still had several tens of thousands left.

Otherwise, he really would have been broke.
