Selene's POV
The banging outside the hospital room had stopped for a few blessed seconds, just long enough for me to catch my breath and for Elena to press her palm against my forehead like she used to when I was a child with a fever. Her skin felt cool and steady and in that moment,it was the only steady thing left in my world.
I opened my mouth to tell her I was okay just to calm the worry on her face when the door literally exploded inward.
The handle slammed against the wall with a metallic crack and the door itself bounced back on its hinges and nearly hit the wall again before Carlos's shoulder shoved it wide open.
He and Alejandro came through the doorway tangled together, their fists flying and curses spilling from both mouths at once.
