"Let's go!" The words ripped from my throat, raw with a fear I couldn't name.
I couldn't believe he was doing this. Risking everything—his empire, his life, the fragile stability we'd carved from blood and cunning—for a girl.
A beautiful one, yes, but still just a girl. One he could replace with a phone call. One that millions would line up for, would *kill* for, just to be in his orbit.
But no. It had to be her. Camilla.
I never knew he was capable of this kind of insanity. This wasn't the cold, calculating Lucian who broke bottles over his own head and walked away from the aftermath. This was a man possessed, a ghost of himself, chasing a ghost of her.
