Chapter 1 - The innocent girl he saw

Do it," Emilio said calmly.

The pleading on the other end of the phone didn't move him. Neither did the promise of loyalty and commitment.

He ended the call just as the gunshot echoed.

A faint smirk curved on his face.

An hour later, beneath crystal chandeliers and polite applause, he accepted praise for his family's generous donation to the children's hospital.

That was when he saw her.

Someone who didn't belong.

It wasn't just the way she carried herself as she walk nor the way she smiled so freely without any care in the world.

She wasn't draped in an expensive dress or wearing the boldest make up.

Yet the room shifted around her.

Her milk skin shone in the light and her brown wavy hair added to her beauty.

The wasn't the first time Emilio has seen a stunning woman, but this one was different.

She looked pure. Untouched.

Unaware of the darkness breathing in the same air as her.

Something fragile

Something rare

A dark contrast to his world.

_Who is she_

The girl walked to where his parents were standing with an older woman beside her.

Emilio recognised the older woman as the matron of the hospital their family sponsors.

She talk with his parents while the girl just kept smiling, adding a few sentences along the conversation.

Emilio couldn't place what it was but there was something so pure and rare about the girl.

Just then a message chimed in his phone interrupting his thoughts, Emilio glanced at his phone.

"I found the files, Boss" the message reads.

A satisfied smirk curved on his face and he walked towards the entrance door.

"Emilio !" he didn't walk a few steps when a loud boistering voice called him.

"Fuck!" Emilio growled.

Even without turning, he knew who was calling him.

He then turned around and strode to where his parents were standing.

The girl and the old woman were no where to be seen, no wonder his father saw him leaving the party.

"Where're you going, Emilio?" His father calmly asked when he reached them.

"I have some business to attend to" Emilio grunted, "something very important".

"Whatever, that can wait after the party" his father said giving him a stern look that he meant what he said.

Emilio clenched his fist, his eyes darkened and his signature smirked curved on his face.

His father noticed that and just crossed his hands staring at him.

"I am now the Brav..."

"Good evening, Mr Ramirez"

A milky smooth voice greeted and Emilio felt all the anger in him evaporated as swiftly as it came.

He turned and made eye contact with the girl he saw earlier.

Up close, she was even more beautiful than he thought and her smile; her smile could make a dying soul to live.

"Sir, I just wanted to thank you for everything you have been doing in the hospital for us. We so grateful for that, those donations have really helped people so much. We can't thank you enough" she continued.

Emilio just nodded at her, at this junction it seemed like he has lost his voice.

_nah, that can't be possible,__

Emilio Ramirez loose his voice because of a woman, that is just like saying that fire won a battle with water

"_She said it so sincerely, that's why I am speechless_

"See you later sirs" she added and walked away. She was still smiling as she walked unaware that she had just meet the two most dangerous and wanted men in the country.

Who could killed people with their eyes closed.

"Who is she?" He asked his father, watching the girl as she went to another group and starts talking with them.

"She is the matron's granddaughter, Daisy is her name" his father replied.

" She is quite a good girl and..."

Emilio didn't wait to hear any words again, he strode towards the entrance door ignoring his father's call.

He needed to get out of here

And very fast.

He reached the door and turned the door knob, just as he wanted to take a step outside.

"MrRamirez!"

Emilio heard the girl call.

_fuck, not again, what do you want now_

A fake smile was plastered on Emilio's face as he turned, it took all of his willpower to do that.

"Yes?"

"Um, I" she began, her eyes darted nervously around him while her hand fidgeted with a parcel on her hand.

She looked like a girl about to confess to her crush and Emilio didn't like that people are now looking at them.

"Little girl, can you hurry up, I don't have time to waste" Emilio said.

"Oh sorry, pardon me, I just wanted to give you this cookies" she said. "Your Dad said you liked them so I made it for you, please accept it".

"Thanks" he muttered and took the parcel from her.

"I hope you enjoy it and it brightens your day" she said, smiling happily at him.

Unconsciously Emilio smiled back at her, but he fixed his face when he realized what he just did.

His eyes found his father's across the room, he was looking at him with an amused expression.

"Motherfucker" Emilio muttered.

"Did you say something sir?" The girl asked and Emilio realized that the damn girl was still standing there.

"Yes, I said thanks and that I am going to enjoy it"

"I glad to hear that, have a good night sleep, Mr Ramirez" she said and then walked away.

Emilio turned around and went out of the door finally.

_That girl is trouble, I need to avoid her at all cost. Even if I want to make her mine, I can't taint her with my dark world, she is too innocent and fragile for it _. _I hope the next time we meet, she is already settled down with a nice, good guy.__

Emilio walked to his car with that thought in mind not knowing that the next time they would meet, the fragile, innocent girl will be wearing prison uniform. The softness and innocence will be long gone, replaced by a dark, emotionless girl who would do anything to survive the harsh world.
