Chapter 5 - Lumine Furrows Her Brows and Senses That Something Isn’t Right

In-game.

"Lumine… he looks so pitiful," Paimon whispered as she floated beside Lumine, a trace of sympathy flickering in her eyes.

To her, Ye Luo looked like some tragic ultimate villain who'd been abandoned by everyone.

His voice even trembled with emotion—heartbreaking to hear, tear-jerking to witness.

Wasn't this acting a little too realistic?

It really felt like he'd genuinely been wronged.

"No. He doesn't realize his mistake. He just knows disaster is about to fall on his head," Lumine shook her head, rejecting the idea.

She calmly watched Ye Luo, who was surrounded on all sides, her heart unmoved.

Throughout her journey, Lumine had already encountered far too many kinds of people.

Compared to them, Ye Luo didn't even rank as anything special.

His performance was just a bit too convincing. If not for what she'd witnessed earlier—and the Akademiya scholars crowding around him—she might really have believed he was innocent.

Forget it. Better to resolve this quickly. She still had a competition to enter and Mora to earn.

Lumine's eyes sharpened as she suddenly dashed forward.

Her speed was astonishing. In just a few seconds, she closed the distance, her sword tracing a sharp arc through the air!

She thrust straight at Ye Luo, aiming for his body.

Facing a mere ordinary person without even a Vision, Lumine naturally wasn't using her full strength.

She held back, making sure Ye Luo wouldn't be seriously injured.

After all, she still planned to hand him over to the General Mahamatra afterward.

Maybe she could even squeeze some information out of him about remnants of the former Grand Sage.

"Hm?"

Lumine murmured in surprise, her gaze instantly locking onto Ye Luo's waist.

There, a Vision suddenly appeared, radiating dazzling icy-blue light.

At the same time, a longsword materialized out of thin air in Ye Luo's hand—condensed entirely from pure Cryo energy. Its crystalline blade gleamed brilliantly, exuding biting cold.

He instinctively gripped it and clashed violently with Lumine's Dull Blade.

A crisp metallic ring echoed through the air as the two weapons collided, causing the surrounding crowd to instinctively cover their ears.

Wielding the Cryo sword with surprising finesse, Ye Luo alternated between blocking Lumine's fierce assaults and launching swift counterattacks.

After a brief but intense exchange, he actually managed to force Lumine back several steps.

Staring at the sword in his hand, Ye Luo was utterly dumbfounded.

Wait—since when was he this strong? He'd actually pushed the Traveler back?

This was someone who'd fought dragons and gods.

Even if she wasn't using her full strength, that was still no small feat.

It has to be the system.

Ye Luo thought to himself. Sure enough, only with a cheat could you truly call it transmigrating. What kind of miserable life had he been living before this?

"Heh."

Lumine retreated a few steps, her expression shifting slightly. "Looks like you've got some real strength after all."

The corner of her lips lifted faintly, the thrill of battle fully ignited within her.

"Then next, I'll use my full strength."

She murmured under her breath as Anemo energy surged through her body, green light wrapping around her entire form.

Lumine was ready to continue the fight.

Paimon hurried to the side and cheered, "Go, Lumine! Knock him flat in one go!"

However, at that very moment, a voice from the scholars suddenly reached Lumine's ears.

After hearing what was said, Lumine's brows knit together. Sensing that something was off, she quietly withdrew to the back of the crowd.

Real world.

A well-known strategy guide creator, A Yueyue, usually played through new events on livestream.

After all, it was easy extra income and a great way to interact with goofy viewers—who wouldn't enjoy that?

The only problem was that these people kept calling him "Mom," chasing him around and acting unhinged every day.

It gave A Yueyue a constant headache.

Of course, as a guide creator, he usually had his own mysterious channels and already knew a rough outline of the event's plot and gameplay.

But for the sake of entertainment value, he always pretended not to know.

Some viewers kept spamming things like "Best Actor" to mock him, but honestly—if he didn't play along, where would the show's effect come from?

And there were always a few people probing him for Fontaine leaks.

Bro, stop testing me. I really don't know.

"This new event isn't difficult. The daily flow should only take around ten minutes. Everyone can just treat it as a chance to grab some free Primogems," A Yueyue said while controlling the Traveler toward Port Ormos and chatting with the stream.

[Mom Yue, I still haven't finished the Forest Book grind. What do I do?]

[Are you keeping up with Mom's pace?]

[Mom Yue, I want to enroll in your elementary school.]

"What? I just saw some friends asking what to do if the quests are too long and they don't have time to grind."

A Yueyue cleared his throat and continued, "You can take a look at the boosting studios linked below. If you need it, feel free to add them."

[Lagging, lagging, lagging!]

[Who said that? Kick them out!]

[I didn't say it! I want to play Genshin! I want to play Genshin! (dark crawling)]

Looking at the screen full of comments, A Yueyue nodded in satisfaction. This was exactly the effect he wanted.

"Hm?"

Seeing a cutscene clearly different from what he expected, A Yueyue stared at his monitor in confusion.

Wasn't the next part supposed to be Lumine listening to a speech, then meeting a beast tamer, and then running into Layla?

Why had it turned into some suspicious pyramid-scheme-looking setup instead?

And a completely new character had suddenly appeared too.

Did HoYo's planning department really pull an all-nighter just to rewrite an event storyline? That seemed unnecessary.

A bad feeling rose in A Yueyue's heart. He hoped the gameplay wouldn't change later.

He really didn't want to have to adapt to new mechanics again.

Mom Yue was suffering inside—but Mom Yue couldn't say it out loud.

So he could only say calmly, "Looks like HoYo's learning some new tricks from the neighbors."

[Hahaha, I'm dying. Now this really is impossible to explain away.]

['He's not realizing his mistake, he just knows he's about to die'—my god, Lumine is so cool. But is there a chance he's actually innocent?]

[I can't hold it in anymore. Fast-forward to Lumine realizing he really is an Akademiya scholar and getting stuck in an awkward spot.]

"Huh?" Watching the two clash, A Yueyue said in surprise, "Lumine actually knows how to use Anemo herself?"

In story cutscenes, the Traveler usually only used the element of whatever nation they were currently in.

You could never really see the advantage of being able to wield multiple elements.

Now it was finally being showcased.

But then—

"I'm dying. She really caught the wrong person this time."

Reading the dialogue in the cutscene, A Yueyue completely lost it.

He slapped the table and burst out laughing.

At the same time, the barrage in the livestream exploded with activity. No one expected that HoYo's event story would finally start delivering this much entertainment value.

[Oh no, Lumine just realized she grabbed the wrong guy.]
