Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

"He'll cease to exist!"

The thought of it made her heart drop. Just then, she heard a knock. She quickly threw the book under her bed.

"Come in!"

The door slowly opened. "Hey Mira, it's been a while," said Aurelion with a big smile.

It's been two weeks since her parents told her she getting married off, and they isolated her until she accepted it. She missed him terribly.

Mira wanted to get up to hug him, but her legs couldn't move. She felt drained.

"Yeah, you said it. What's up with you?" Mira asked.

"Well, aside from my parents nagging me about marriage, it's been quite boring without you."

Aurelion came and sat at the other end of her bed. "What's up with you? Still getting married?"

Mira nodded.

"I'm sorry. I can only imagine what you're going through," he said with a reassuring touch on the knee.

"Aww, look at you being all comforting," Mira teased.

Aurelion's face turned bright red. "Well... I mean i-it's what fr-i-ends do... right?"

"Besides, I do care about you, and unfortunately this is all I can do for you," he added, his voice lower than before.

"Hey Aurelion," Mira called. "Would you... I want to—"

"Run away?" Aurelion cut in. "I figured you'd think of something as devious as that. You really haven't changed from the trouble Mira, have you?"

"You know me so well huh?" Mira whispered.

"I'll support you!"

"Huh? You'll support me?" Mira asked.

Aurelion nodded. "If you ever wanna run away, I'll support and help you. I'll always be by your side whenever you need me to"

Mira smiled, tears in her eyes. "That's good to know!"

The Primordial...

It's been 99 years since he'd been trapped. Next week will make it exactly a century, and if he isn't freed before then, he'll completely disappear.

But he still had one final parting gift for humanity.

The witches killed his family, and then sealed him. The least he could do is repay their kindness a hundred fold.

"I will destroy them if it's the last thing I do," Valen growled.

It was a good thing this girl existed. Things are going exactly as he'd planned them to be. He'd been entering all of her dreams, planting questions she couldn't ignore, fueling her curiosity.

The book was her idea—but he'd made sure she wanted answers badly enough to look for it.

"So easy to manipulate," he thought. "I didn't even have to do much compared with the others before her."

But time was running out. He was already dead, but this curse was indirectly keeping him alive.

His shadow couldn't even dwell within him anymore. It kept seeking refuge in other humans, using them as temporary vessels.

At this point, he's more of a ghost than a devil!
