Chapter 33 - 33. Floor by Floor, I'm Becoming Someone New

He reached Level 12 by finishing Floor 2 and gaining experience. Treasure chests dropped new gear.

A Flame-Resistant Cloak with a Rare quality rating could withstand fire for 20% of the time.

A Warrior's Resolve Ring that gave you 10% more stamina.

He had brought in 1,500 coins, but now he had more than that in gold.

There were huge double doors with intricate carvings at the entrance to Floor 3. Before they could go on, a system notification popped up.

[WARNING: Boss Chamber Ahead]

[Molten Titan - Level 18]

[Recommended Party Level: 15+]

[Current Party Average: 16.3]

[This will be difficult but achievable with proper tactics]

Before opening the doors, Marshal called for a meeting of the strategy team. "Rookie, you're in charge of all the strategies for this boss fight."

"I'll do what you say as your bikini warrior."

Lucian gulped. "No pressure at all, huh? I take that."

They both knew it was a test of his leadership skills, and it was the perfect time to execute it in this boss fight.

Lucian looked over the little bit of information the system gave him. The system presented him with information about fire-based bosses, area-wide attacks, and slow movement.

Weak point found: the cooling vents on its back that opened and closed at random times. He came up with a plan in his head.

"We're going to kite and try to find his weak points first," he said, sounding more sure of himself than he really was.

"Glacielle makes ice walls for cover and mobility platforms."

"Marshal draws aggro and tanks, and I'll hit the cooling vents when they're open."

"We switch places all the time to avoid area attacks."

"Well-though plan," Marshal said. "Let's see if you can execute it well enough."

After that, they entered the boss's chamber and noticed that it was huge, measuring at least 100 feet wide. The Molten Titan rose from a pool of lava in the middle when they came in.

Twenty feet of living magma and stone, with glowing embers following every move. It hit the ground with a huge thud, and the shockwave spread out with terrible power.

"SCATTER!" Lucian shouted.

Just as the attack hit, the group broke up into three groups. The ground cracked where they had been standing just a few seconds before.

Marshal got right to work, with solar magic and lava meeting in a stalemate of opposing forces. Glacielle made ice platforms on the hot floor, which gave them stable ground to move around on.

Lucian looked for patterns in the Titan's attack sequence. After three quick strikes, cooling vents on its back opened to let out extra heat.

And that was the window.

"Marshal, set up the three-hit combo!"

"Glacielle, freeze the ground under it!"

They executed perfectly. The Titan suddenly stumbled on icy footing.

Vents opened right on schedule. Lucian charged in with his blade coated in synchronized ice magic and drove it deep into the exposed weak point.

For the first time, real damage was recorded. And the Titan roared, entering an enraged state.

The fight intensified. Four Fire Phantoms materialized as adds, surrounding them.

"Ignore adds! We're going to focus on the boss first!" Lucian shouted without thinking.

"Bad call, rookie!" Marshal shouted back while blocking a phantom's attack. "Adds will take over if we don't do something!"

"Oh fuck...!" Lucian changed his mind on the spot. "Glacielle, use your ice to create an area effect that slows down all the adds!"

"Marshal, you do the damage to the boss! I'll take care of the adds!"

The adaptation worked under stress. Glacielle's frost wave slowed the phantoms down enough for Lucian to fight them one at a time while Marshal kept the main target under pressure.

The Titan's health plunged to 30%, causing it to go even more berserk. Attacks came at a faster pace, area effects expanded, and dodging became increasingly difficult.

Lucian took a hit instead of Glacielle when her attack overshot, causing his HP to drop to 40%.

"Stop being a hero and STAY ALIVE!" Marshal yelled, genuine concern in her voice.

Lucian gritted his teeth and yelled for the last push, even though it hurt. "Everyone, full burst on my mark!"

"Three..."

"Two..."

"One...!"

"NOW!"

All of the coordinated ultimate abilities were turned on at the same time. Glacielle's Frozen Prison held the Titan in solid ice for a short time.

The concentrated heat of Marshal's Solar Execution pierced through its defenses. Lucian thrust his synchronized ice blade directly into the largest cooling vent and struck the creature's heart.

The Molten Titan shattered, crumbling into stone that rapidly cooled.

[Boss Defeated: Molten Titan]

[Massive Experience Gained!]

[Lucian Level 12 → 14]

[Glacielle Level 15 → 17]

The rewards materialized from the defeated boss.

A Titan's Heart is rated Epic quality for future crafting.

The molten armor chest piece provides substantial vitality and fire resistance.

Three thousand gold coins.

A skill scroll for Flame Step, a movement ability.

Most importantly, a permanent five percent boost to all stats as a floor-completion bonus.

When it was over, Lucian could barely stand. Marshal came up to him and held out her hand, which made him stand up.

"You FINALLY did a good job leading us, rookie."

"You changed plans when they didn't work and made good decisions that kept the team alive." She looked him in the eye. "That's what REAL leaders do."

[Bond Level Increased: Marshal 1.5 → 2.0 Hearts]

[Relationship Status: Respected Subordinate]

It felt like they had earned the rest chamber after the boss fight. Their tiredness dampened their excitement as they quietly celebrated.

With healing potions and careful attention, Glacielle took care of Lucian's wounds.

"You protected me again, Master," she said softly, stroking his face. "Even when you should have put your own safety first."

"Thank you."

"Anything for you, Glacielle..." Lucian smiled, and he knew what he said would make Glacielle fall for him even more.

...

Floors 4 through 6 transformed into a montage of training that progressively improved over time. Each floor presented new challenges that tested different aspects of fighting and leadership.

On Floor 4, the Shadow Realm forced them to battle in near-complete darkness, pushing Lucian to adapt his fighting style.

He learned to rely on sound and instinct rather than sight. Marshall's lessons proved to be invaluable during this difficult training.

"Warriors don't need eyes to kill," she said as she showed how to find enemies by their breathing and footsteps.

Floor 5's Ice Caverns gave Glacielle a natural advantage. She took the lead, teaching Lucian advanced ice techniques he'd never seen before.

"Let me show you what TRUE ice magic looks like, Master," she said with rare pride in her abilities.

The role reversal felt natural, and Lucian absorbed every lesson she offered.

Floor 6 tested pure endurance. There were twelve consecutive combat encounters without any rest zones.

Lucian had to pace himself carefully, managing stamina and resources across hours of continuous fighting. The Dragon Breathing foundation paid dividends, keeping his energy stable when it should have collapsed.

By Floor 6's completion, the transformation was visible. Lucian no longer hesitated in combat.

He struck with confidence, combined ice magic and swordplay fluidly, and called out tactics without overthinking every decision.

A natural warrior was emerging from the rookie who'd stumbled into this world barely days ago.
