Caspian was an ordinary guy on earth, well, he thought so, but that was far from the truth in most aspects. He was tall, good-looking, effortlessly charming, and could capture a room with a smile.
Girls at his school would confess to him, much to his friends' annoyance. He would always tease them, "Guys, I will let you in on a secret to my success." They would all huddle around him, waiting for him to grace them with his divine knowledge: "A way to a girl's heart is through making them smile."
His friend's eyes would always roll in exasperation. While groaning at his constant annoying laugh at their reaction, they would complain sarcastically, "Yeah, but being over 6 feet, blonde and blue eyes, while having a face that could land you a role in Hollywood never hurts, does it?!"
But, Caspian would always hit back with some egotistical statement; his newest one was, "Well, I guess I am just God's favourite." However, that might be closer to the truth than he ever realised.
_________
Walking back home from a long day at school, his tie undone and his blazer effortlessly hanging over his back, lost in the moment, he crossed the road. In the next moment, before he could react as his mind wandered, he was hit by a truck that had come out of nowhere, as if appearing from the void itself.
His body was thrown into the air, and all he saw in his last moments were pedestrians shouting in panic.
___________
A realm of contradiction greeted Caspian, where up was down and right was left, and the weight of the very realm felt like walking through a swamp. He realised his body was nowhere to be seen, and in its place was a glowing white projection of a humanoid.
'What the hell is going on? One minute I was walking across the road, the next a... truck came out of nowhere and hit me. Oh, I must be dead, right?' Before he could continue his surprisingly calm thoughts, considering the situation he was in, he saw a figure of a young woman with galaxies for eyes that seemed to hold the very knowledge of the universe; her hair fell to her ankles, and her amorous body was the embodiment of perfection.
'Was she currently... laughing?' Caspian thought, perplexed by the situation.
"Oh my! That was hilarious! I took some inspiration from those mortals, what do they call them again? Oh yes! Webnovels!" Her voice sounded like an angelic choir, but there was something about this woman that irked Caspian to the very depths of his soul.
"Come on! Even without your memories, you still give me that same look!" Pouting, she said, "You begged me to lock your memories away and give you a 'normal life', whatever that is! Anyway, you're so weird, who would want to live as one of those lower life forms?" She walked over effortlessly, her small feet patting away at the ground that seemed to convey the vast cosmos.
She put her small hands around his face, or what he thought was his face, as she said more seriously, "I need you again... an isolated universe has barely survived an invasion by those... fucking rats!" As her emotions boiled, the very realm seemed to shake before she calmed herself, "I know you wanted a break from this, but, for me, you will help me again, right?" Her face showed a mock sadness, like puppy-dog eyes.
A feeling of guilt, like when a spoiled daughter has their father wrapped around their finger, seemed to hit Caspian, even though he was just in a soul form; it felt ingrained in his very soul like situations like these were normal, "I don't know who you are, you're not making any sense, and... I won't just go and throw myself into some conflict without any context." His voice, even though he was overwhelmed, held firm.
"You have changed, well, losing your memories might do that, but it is more than that, as if you have been influenced by your time on that insignificant planet." Sighing, she said, "Very well, I will be brief."
She turned and looked into the distance as if she could see what she was describing, "There is a world called Eldoria that has been recuperating from a war with a.. well that information is not needed right now, and they had a pantheon of gods in whom were given the small task of protecting it, well, they are in slumber now and will awaken shortly." Her voice conveyed her disappointment as she continued, "They will be weakened and need time to get to full strength, so I need you to go there and protect this world for me in their stead. Even if they were at full strength, I wouldn't trust them with looking after a damn cat! Bunch of useless fools!" She huffed, finally not able to hold back.
"Wait, so you want me to go to some planet and what? Potentially protect it where literal gods couldn't?" Caspian asked in disbelief.
She laughed teasingly again, something he wasn't used to, being teased himself, "I'm sorry, it's just funny hearing you, of all people, make out like doing that is difficult. Don't worry! I will grant you a power that will give you all the tools you will need."
Walking back over to Caspian again, she hugged him, and a surprising freshness assaulted his senses.
Pulling away, she looked at him with a sultry expression, biting her lip and purring, "Come on, husband! Please help little old me out, would you? Why do you always have to be so difficult!"
A feeling of annoyance from within his very soul seemed to hit him again when she called him that, "Don't do that, it won't work on me, I can tell a mile away you're faking it." Harrumphing, she walked off.
Sighing, Caspian thought to himself, 'I don't know what I have got myself into here, but heading to a new world, one with gods and magical powers, sounds too good to pass up, and what else am I going to do? Haunt her in this place for the rest of my days?'
Seemingly concluding, Caspian spoke firmly, "Fine, I will do it."
The ethereal entity spun around and jumped on him, hugging him tightly before shouting, "You're the best, Cas! You can never turn me down! Heheheh~" Before simply opening a portal and pushing him through, "Don't worry, it will all become clearer with time! Enjoy! Oh, and my name is Celestia, by the way! Byeeeeee!" She shouted with a teasing glee.
'This fucking woman!' It was all he could think about before he lost consciousness.
