Akira

Kamado Household — Late Afternoon

He hadn't even reached the gate before the door slid open.

"AKIRAAA—!!"

Nezuko barreled out like a small storm, wooden box forgotten entirely as she latched onto his waist.

"Oof— easy," Akira said, automatically steadying her. "You've gotten stronger."

She beamed up at him, then promptly tried to climb his back.

Tanjiro appeared a second later, bowing so deeply his forehead nearly hit the ground.

"Welcome back, Akira-san," he said seriously. "Thank you for coming again."

Akira set his pack down. "You don't need to bow every time."

"I do," Tanjiro replied firmly. "You always arrive when we need help."

Nezuko tugged at Akira's sleeve, holding up a poorly wrapped bundle.

"For you!" she declared.

Akira accepted it solemnly. "I'm honored."

Inside were unevenly shaped rice balls.

He ate one immediately.

"…These are good."

Nezuko puffed up with pride.

Tanjiro watched the exchange quietly, eyes sharp.

Something about Akira felt… slightly different.

Not distracted.

Just… thoughtful.

Tanjiro

Observation

That night, Akira checked the roof beams, repaired a cracked support, and laid out herbs to dry.

He moved with the same calm precision as always.

But when he sat by the fire, staring into the embers, his breath deepened — slower than usual.

Tanjiro noticed.

"You're thinking about something," he said.

Akira glanced at him. "…Am I that obvious?"

Tanjiro nodded. "A little."

Akira smiled faintly. "Then I'll work harder to hide it."

Nezuko laughed, copying Akira's seated posture exaggeratedly.

Akira froze.

"…Is she imitating my breathing?"

Tanjiro blinked. "Oh. She does that sometimes."

Nezuko inhaled deeply, puffed her cheeks, then exhaled with dramatic flair.

Akira covered his mouth to hide a smile.

"…We'll refine that tomorrow."

Chaos approved enthusiastically.

Mitsuri

Butterfly Estate — Same Evening

Mitsuri paused mid-step.

She didn't know why.

Nothing was wrong.

Training had gone well.

Her breathing was steady.

And yet—

"…Something changed," she murmured.

She pressed a hand lightly to her chest.

Not danger.

Not fear.

Just… a shift.

Like a breeze passing through a room after someone left.

She frowned, confused, then shook her head.

"I'm imagining things," she said softly.

She wasn't.

---

Shinobu

Truth Spoken

Shinobu found Mitsuri later that night, sitting under the wisteria, stretching quietly.

"Mitsuri," Shinobu said casually, "I told him."

Mitsuri froze.

"…Told him what?"

Shinobu smiled. "Everything."

Silence.

Then—

"You WHAT?" Mitsuri squeaked, spinning around.

Shinobu tilted her head innocently. "I confessed."

Mitsuri stared.

Eyes wide.

Mouth open.

Completely stunned.

"You just— like that?" Mitsuri said. "You didn't hesitate? You didn't— rehearse? Or panic? Or—"

"Nope."

Mitsuri grabbed her shoulders. "You're incredible."

Shinobu laughed. "Is that your reaction?"

"Yes!" Mitsuri said breathlessly. "I'm shocked. And stunned. And— wow."

She sat back slowly.

"…What did he say?"

Shinobu's smile softened.

"He asked for time," she said.

"And he was honest."

Mitsuri exhaled, shoulders relaxing.

"…That sounds like him."

She looked at Shinobu again — really looked.

"…You're brave," Mitsuri said quietly.

Shinobu shrugged. "I just dislike regret."

Mitsuri & Shinobu

Friendship, Not Broken

Mitsuri smiled — not strained, not forced.

"I'm not losing," she said suddenly.

Shinobu raised a brow. "Oh?"

"But," Mitsuri added quickly, "neither are you."

They looked at each other.

Then both laughed.

"Friendly rivalry?" Shinobu suggested.

"Friendly," Mitsuri agreed immediately.

Shinobu leaned closer, grin sharp. "And friendship stays."

"Always," Mitsuri said without hesitation.

They sat together under the wisteria, neither threatened, neither retreating.

Just honest.

---

Closing

At the Kamado home, Nezuko fell asleep leaning against Akira's side, breathing slow and steady.

At the Butterfly Estate, two girls shared a truth without letting it divide them.

And between these quiet places, something gentle unfolded —

Not a storm.

Just ripples.

And the Sun continued on its path,

unaware of how many hearts had chosen to move with it.
