His heart pounded, his hands trembled.
His golden finger had finally activated.
After finishing a round of Taijutsu practice with Kotetsu, Izumo felt several fragments of memory inside his mind click together. And then, the panel appeared before his eyes.
To avoid drawing attention, Izumo took advantage of his shaken emotions and pretended to be a student whose mental state had been rattled, successfully asking Morino Ibiki for a day off.
The moment he got home, Izumo couldn't wait to start studying his golden finger.
"Physical Energy, Chakra, and Mental…" Izumo muttered to himself. "These probably refer to bodily energy, chakra, and spiritual energy."
"Why is there only one skill showing up?" Thinking back to the moment the panel activated that morning, Izumo formed a guess.
He recalled the method of chakra extraction in his mind and began to try it out.

Then, he focused his awareness and guided both types of energy toward his tanden.

He looked back at the panel.

He checked the proficiency panel again.

The sound of knocking suddenly came from the door. Izumo asked cautiously, "Who is it?"
"It's me. Kotetsu." The familiar voice came from outside.
Izumo opened the door and greeted him. "Come in."
Kotetsu stepped inside. His eyes swept over the scattered kunai and the training clothes soaked with sweat. A trace of admiration flashed in his gaze.
"Izumo, I actually came to cheer you up, to see if there was anything I could help with. But now it looks like you're not down at all."
Izumo smiled. "Kotetsu, thanks for worrying about me. As for help, there is something. Tonight, stay with me and train Taijutsu again."
"Alright, that's easy. We'll add some extra training tonight." Kotetsu paused, then added, "But you haven't eaten yet, have you? Come to my place first. Let's get you something to eat."
Izumo nodded. "I'll be troubling your uncle and aunt again."
"It's no trouble at all." Kotetsu slung an arm around Izumo's shoulder and started walking with him toward his house. "Your parents and mine were close friends. Now that your uncle and aunt fell on a mission, how could we ever let the child of heroes go hungry?"
