Darkness surrounded him again, but it was not the same as before.
Earlier, it had felt empty and quiet. Now it felt big and full, like something was inside it. The darkness did not feel calm. It felt like something was watching.
Ivor stood in that darkness. He knew he had a body, but he could not see it. He knew he was there, but he could not tell where his body started or ended. The peaceful feeling from the grassland was gone. Now he felt pressure from all sides, like the space around him was pushing inward.
At first, nothing happened.
Then he felt it.
A call.
It did not feel like something new entering his body. It felt like something that had always been there, waiting for him to notice it.
There was no sound. No voice. No words in his head. But he could clearly feel it. Something was calling him.
As he became aware of it, his old memories began to surface.
