Sharon Quincy faltered, clearly panicking.
She hadn't expected Cecilia Nathan to figure out the deal between her and Walter Wallace so quickly.
"The only reason I signed the forgiveness agreement is that what he did isn't enough to get him the death penalty. Since he's not going to die, what if he gets out and comes after me for revenge? It's easy for you to say—you have nothing to do with him. I have no connections, no one to back me up. If he does something to me, who can I turn to?" Sharon Quincy said defiantly, holding out her prosthetic hand. "I'm already down to one hand. I can't fight him, and I can't win an argument against him. Don't I have the right to think about my own future?"
"We can get him the death penalty." Cecilia Nathan glanced at her hand, her eyes narrowing slightly.
"What?!" Sharon Quincy's mouth twitched. "Even the law can't give him the death penalty. What kind of nonsense are you talking?"
