"I don't know either..."
This was what confused Cecilia, too.
She still couldn't bring herself to believe Hugo was alive, but what if he really was?
If Hugo were alive, so much of her lifelong guilt and regret would fade.
"Has Damian Hawthorne found out about you and Hugo?" Chloe Sutton asked.
Cecilia pressed her lips together. Thinking of Damian Hawthorne's attitude, she sighed softly. "What if he does? It's impossible between us now."
Chloe Sutton nodded. "I know. If Miles Sinclair were really dead, you two might have had a chance. But since he's alive, you'll definitely choose him."
"Cecilia, I feel like after you left Damian Hawthorne, his attitude toward you changed. It's like... he suddenly fell in love with you." Chloe Sutton frowned, then it dawned on her. "He couldn't be regretting it, could he?"
After saying that, Chloe Sutton slapped her thigh. "I knew it! He didn't cherish a wonderful woman like you. Sooner or later, he was bound to regret it!"
