The neon lights of the Sump flickered as Chen met with the Fish Head Boss in a shadowed alcove. The scrap of paper handed to him felt heavier than iron.
"Hextech Weapons are under development, and the Twin Cities War will begin once they are ready."
Chen crumpled the note, his jaw tightening. He had spent months trying to build a bridge between these two worlds through science and reason, but the Council had chosen the language of lead and lightning. "I shouldn't have expected anything else from them," he muttered.
Suddenly, a golden pulse vibrated in his vision. The system, long silent while he focused on infrastructure, flared to life.
CHAPTER ONE MAIN QUEST: TWIN CITIES WAR Final Quest: End the fractured relationship of the Twin Cities. Reward: 1 Hero Basic Skill, 1 Hero Ultimate Skill, 1 Talent Point.
"Finally," Chen breathed. But before looking forward, he had to claim the spoils of his previous victory at the pier.
REWARD CLAIMED: Main Quest Four (Protect Piltover). Items Acquired: B.F. Sword (+40 AD), Recurve Bow (+25% Attack Speed, +15 On-Hit Phys Damage). Talent Point Spent: Triumph (Takedowns restore 12% missing HP and grant +20 Gold).
He felt the surge of power instantly. The B.F. Sword manifested as a sharpening of his own intent, and the Recurve Bow lent a preternatural speed to his movements. With Triumph, he was no longer just a tank; he was a berserker who grew stronger with every enemy felled.
Chen rocketed back to the Sanctuary, finding Ekko deep in a pile of logistics reports.
"Chen! You're back," Ekko said, his face bright with progress. "Everything is moving. We've got work-relief programs feeding the refugees, the factories are running at 90% capacity, and the household contract systems are boosting production like crazy. Even Heimerdinger is impressed with the new ventilation designs!"
Chen didn't smile. He put a hand on Ekko's shoulder. "Stop the infrastructure projects, Ekko. We're switching to a war footing."
The color drained from Ekko's face. "War? But Silco is gone! We're finally fixing things!"
"Piltover doesn't want us fixed," Chen said grimly. "They want us compliant. They're mass-producing Hextech Weapons. They're coming to finish what they started years ago."
Within minutes, the Wildfire Squad was assembled. The news hit them like a physical blow. They had tasted a few days of hope—of clean air and full bellies—and the idea of Piltover snatching it away turned their fear into a cold, jagged fury.
"We survived Silco's monsters! We aren't afraid of Enforcers!" one scout roared, slamming a wrench against his hoverboard.
"It's not just Enforcers," Chen cautioned, his voice cutting through the noise. "It's Hextech. Jayce's hammer can shatter a building. We need more than courage. We need a deterrent."
From the canopy of the Great Tree, Janna descended in her avian form. Her voice echoed in their minds, ethereal and sorrowful. "The faith you have given me has granted me strength, but I am still tethered to this grove. I cannot march to the bridge... but I can bless your weapons and shield your hearts."
The orders were issued. The chem-factories shifted production. Powder's Flame Chompers—once handmade toys of chaos—were now being manufactured by the hundreds. The blueprints for Pow-Pow were distributed to the most skilled gunsmiths in the Sump.
Chen pulled Ekko aside, handing him a small, glowing shard. "Silco's stash. Take the Hex Crystals to Heimerdinger. I need you to build the Z-Drive."
"The what?"
"A temporal anchor," Chen said, his eyes intense. "You need to learn how to shatter a crystal to create a vortex in reality. Control the rift, Ekko. If they can bring magic to the battlefield, we will bring time."
While Ekko hurried to find the Professor, Chen sought out Powder in her workshop. He expected to find her tinkering with scrap, but instead, he found a masterpiece.
On her workbench sat a massive, shark-themed missile. It was covered in erratic fluorescent graffiti, looking both playful and terrifying. Beside it was a note:
"Check out my Super Mega Death Rocket! Now all it needs is a Hex Crystal to provide the 'Boom!' I'll be right back! — Jinx ~"
She had even drawn a little tongue-out emoji. Chen looked at the missile and then up toward the ceiling, toward the glittering towers of Piltover.
"Internal troubles with Urgot, external war with the Council," Chen whispered, resting a hand on the cold metal of the rocket. "I hope you're ready for the 'Boom,' Jayce. Because the Sump is done hiding."
