Chapter 2 - Chapter 3. Owls eat my last bit of sanity

I thought of all the Greek stories my brother taught me. The first one came to my mind was Arachne. Athena hears a girl who says she's better than her. And then the girl challenges her. My brother says that the

story always gets changed but, the true version is Athena beats her and turns her into a spider, dooming her to weave for all eternity. But Athena was the mentor in my absolute favorite story though, The Odyssey.

A skinny boy with a sword starts at me. Then all of a sudden I hear a voice."take off your ring." As creepy as it was, I forgot about the shiny silver ring I had on. It was a gift from my brother. I took off the ring and it had turned into a sword.

I take in a deep breath and prepare to fight. The clashing of swords made my ears ring. Then I knock it out his hands. He surrenders. A dozen more campers are making their way to me. An idea comes, to hide in the bushes. The leader of the group holds up his spear ready to steal our flag. He didn't realize I had the upper hand. Before they knew it, I snuck up closer behind and knocked the spear out his hands. The rest of them I fought off with my sword. Only one camper remained the went over to the lake. I saw his foot was on a slippery rock. As soon as he swung his sword, I ducked down and slammed into his leg. That caused him to fall into the lake.

I turned around to see every single camper looking at me. I was confused. Then campers started running toward me with a blue flag in their hands. That is when I realized we had won. Annabeth gave me a high-five and Percy ruffled my short hair."Good job, you didn't die."

Later that night we all sat by the campfire. It had seemed to be changing colors. Maybe I felt a little at home here. Maybe Percy and Annabeth could be my friends. Those are things I will never know. A man with the body of a horse made his way to me. "Hello miss, my name is Chiron."

Chiron told me he was the camp activity director. Chiron was known to be the best mentor in Greek mythology. "You want to know something crazy,Annabeth? We never asked her what her name was." Sweat rolled down my forehead. What should I say? My father once said that lying makes a problem even worse. "Atalanta is my name." People said that my name was weird. But no one knew who Atalanta was. She was a hunter of Artemis. She was also very powerful, that's why my mom gave me that name. "Is it after the heroine Atalanta? My name came from the hero Perseus."

"Yeah" Maybe I wasn't alone anymore.

Chiron announced that some demigods were needed to be brought to camp. I don't know what I thought what was going to happen but I volunteered to help bring them. Before Chiron could stop me, everyone stared at me. What was going on?
