Chapter 170 - Chapter 170: Tacit Understanding X and X Victory

The examinees returned to the examination hall from earlier. One side of the wall was covered with cracks, while Kisho lay nearby, unconscious.

Amos's expression darkened slightly as he ran toward Kisho, only stopping beside him.

"Don't move him yet."

C·L spoke slowly, his brows also furrowed. He walked over, crouched down, and began checking Kisho's injuries.

Three ribs were broken. All four limbs had injuries as well. As for the abrasions covering his entire body, they were too numerous to count.

"Logically speaking, the injuries shouldn't be this severe."

A trace of contemplation flashed through C·L's eyes. Then, as if he had thought of something, he turned to Amos.

"Check Kisho's nen."

His voice was calm, yet his tone carried a sharp edge.

Amos's gaze sank slightly.

C·L was no longer planning to hide his identity. Or rather, it should be said that he was Chrollo, the leader of the Phantom Troupe. Even though for some reason he currently couldn't use nen, the pressure he exuded—

A faint silver light condensed in Amos's eyes. After several breaths, he explained:

"Kisho is in a state of Zetsu."

"If he maintained Zetsu before receiving the attack, then suffering injuries like this isn't surprising."

As C·L spoke, he looked toward Netero, who had entered the hall at some unknown point.

His seemingly calm gaze carried a hint of darkness, as though waiting for an explanation.

Following his gaze, everyone else also turned to look behind them.

"Ahem, the referee has already notified the medical team to come."

Netero walked toward them while speaking.

"Just now, that kid used a nen ability with extremely strong restrictions, which forced him into a state of compulsory Zetsu."

Netero looked a little embarrassed. He reached out and stroked his white beard, trying to hide it.

"My move— even the aftershock isn't something a person without nen could withstand."

Although he used "my move" to conceal the fact that he had used [Guanyin], one of the examiners who entered with him, Sion, rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"Using [Guanyin] on a kid like that… you really outdid yourself."

Netero widened his eyes slightly, then laughed.

"Oh? How did you all know?"

"We all saw it."

Biscuit pointed at Amos beside Kisho.

"This kid's nen ability drew everything that happened in that instant."

"You didn't use [Guanyin] in front of this kid before, did you?"

Netero scratched his head and looked at Amos.

"Of course not."

"Then that eliminates the possibility that he was prepared beforehand. It must be the effect of his nen ability. In other words, this kid's drawing is absolutely real."

"So when Kisho was mumbling toward the camera earlier, he was asking you to use your nen ability to testify for him?"

Netero looked at Amos.

Amos nodded.

"Yeah. He asked me to draw him. While I was drawing, I saw him use some kind of teleportation ability, so I threw the badge out the window while I was at it—just as a backup plan."

Netero laughed again.

"That's quite the tacit understanding. But weren't you always trying to hide your nen ability?"

"Isn't a nen ability meant to be used at critical moments?"

Amos raised his eyebrow and asked back without hesitation.

His words made Netero burst into hearty laughter. The way he looked at Amos became even more satisfied.

A chill ran down Amos's spine. He quickly changed the subject.

"So what are you planning to do? If there's no explanation, I won't—"

"I'll take care of this kid."

Sion spoke as he crouched beside Kisho and checked his injuries.

"Several ribs are broken. The external injuries aren't serious, and the damage to the internal organs isn't particularly severe."

As he spoke, he took out his phone and dialed several numbers. After more than ten rings, the call was finally answered.

"Hey, where are you? There's a small situation here. Send over a [Angel's Breath]."

After saying that, he held the phone far away from his ear.

The next second, furious shouting erupted from the other end of the line. It was hard to imagine that someone could make others dizzy purely through the power of their voice.

"Get lost! Have some shame, Sion! You've already fleeced so much from me before, and now you want my card again?"

"I'm telling you—NO! WAY!"

Hearing the voice on the phone, Kite, who had been crouching beside Kisho, suddenly lifted his head as if he had thought of something. He was just about to speak, but then fell silent.

A moment later, determination filled his eyes.

After the person on the other end finished yelling, Sion placed the phone back beside his ear and continued speaking with a grin.

"Isn't it because there's a kid here that you'd definitely be interested in? He just passed the Hunter exam, so he's already qualified to go over there with us. Or are you saying you don't want to go?"

"Just passed the Hunter exam…? And someone I'd be interested in?"

The person on the other end muttered a few words, then asked cautiously:

"White hair, blue eyes, name's Kisho…?"

"Yeah, yeah, that's him—wait, you've met this kid before? Tsk, don't you dare try to steal him from me. I've had my eye on him for a long time."

"Heh. Then we'll just see whose ability is better."

No one knew what the person on the other end was doing, but a series of rustling sounds could be heard. Then suddenly—

Boom.

It sounded like something had exploded.

"You want the card, right? I'll put it at the starting area. Just bring the kid in directly."

"Alright."

Sion hung up the phone, patted Amos on the shoulder, then looked at C·L.

"I'll take this kid for now. Don't worry. The injuries aren't a big problem, but the backlash from his nen ability might not be easy to deal with. We'll see."

Amos fell silent for a moment before slowly nodding and standing up.

Since Sion dared to say that, he must have enough confidence. After all, even the instigator himself, Netero, was only rubbing his nose and saying nothing.

Besides, even this Mr. Leader had silently accepted it, so it should really be fine.

Amos let out a quiet breath of relief.

"In an hour, Hunter training can begin. Don't worry, it won't delay anything."

Sion watched as the medical team placed Kisho onto a stretcher, then gestured for them to follow him.
