(Third Person POV)
Kinryu narrowed his eyes past the Female Mahoraga, seeing that Megumi was leaning against a light pole, covered in blood.
"This isn't good." Kinryu said
Mahoraga followed Kinryu's gaze, seeing that Megumi was several dozen meters away from her. Without wasting another thought, she lunged at the young boy and attempted to strike at him with his sword.
She, however, struck the lightpole and shattered it completely, sending debris flying everywhere. She watched as her blade was lodged into the pavement, having hit nothing else. She pulled her arm back and straightened up, looking back to Kinryu, and saw that he was crouching down and holding an unconscious Megumi.
She simply stood there and watched, somewhat intrigued by this; Kinryu had retrieved the boy with tremendous speed, faster than she could react.
Kinryu laid Megumi on the ground, next to Maki, and straightened up. He had his eyes set on Mahoraga, deducing what had happened.
"So, the curses attacked these two and overwhelmed them." Kinryu said as he faced down the Shikigami, "As a result, Megumi decided to summon you and start the ritual. You probably prioritized the vast amount of curses and decided to leave Megumi for last. That's rather peculiar for the Mahoraga Ritual....but I won't complain. Thanks for not killing the kids...."
Mahora simply stood there, looking at him with a slight smile.
"Guess you won't make it easy for me, huh?" He said seriously, "What a pain in the ass....."
As he said this, two men were seen running up to him.
"Oi!" one of them called out, "What's going on?!"
Kinryu extended his arm to the side, "Careful!" He said, "It's not safe!"
He glanced behind to see that it was Nanami and Ino who were running towards him. As they reached Maki and Megumi, Nanami adjusted his glasses and saw what Kinryu was facing off against.
"W-What the hell...?" Nanami almost lost his composure, "I was wondering what did the Cursed Spirits in...and I thought it was you. But I suppose by the looks of it, I was wrong."
"You're right about that." Kinryu said, "Take Megumi and Maki somewhere safe. After you do that, ensure every Curse is exorcised. I'll handle this one."
Nanami nodded, "I leave it to you then." He said, "But if I am not mistaken about the ritual...."
"Don't worry about it." Kinryu said seriously, pointing his arm forward as several Qurio began to emerge from his forearm, "Go. Now."
As Ino and Nanami grabbed the kids and began to run away with them, Mahoraga lunged past Kinryu in blinding speed, targeting Ino, who was holding Megumi. The female shikigami raised her blade and attempted to swing at him.
"Shit!!" Ino exclaimed
Kinryu appeared between them, deflecting the Blade of Extermination with a shockwave of red energy. Mahoraga was recoiled back after an invisible force pushed her back. As she landed on the pavement, Kinryu waved his arms forwards.
"Qurious Affliction
Suddenly, a swarm of Qurio shikigami appeared out of nowhere and latched onto the massive body of Mahoraga, spreading the flame-like light around its body. Mahora was briefly frozen, a bit taken aback by the attack.
"Hm...." Kinryu said, "I know it's going to...."
Qurious Affliction is the trademark technique to Kinryu's Qurio, the shikigami he utilizes as part of his Malzeno abilities. It essentially causes the Qurio to latch onto a target and feed on their blood and cursed energy. Depending on the amount of Qurio used and intensity used in the ability, the Target is almost always immobilized. In the case of Ogi Zenin, Kinryu used a few of them to momentarily subdue him. Shortly after they were removed, he recovered without issue.
In this case, a full swarm of around two dozen Qurio latched onto Mahoraga, keeping her in place as the Shikigami faced Kinryu.
Another part of this ability is that once they feed on enough blood and cursed energy, Kinryu can recall the shikigami and absorb the blood and cursed energy into his own body. However, he can keep as many Qurio as he wants latched onto the target to perform the third part of the ability.
"Affliction" happens only when the Qurio spends a certain amount of time latched onto their prey, rendering them more susceptible to Bloodblight and throwing their Cursed Energy into disarray, disorienting them.
Bloodblight is a powerful status that prevents any Curse, Sorcerer, and Shikigami from recovering their physical wounds, causing hemorrhages and luring in more Qurio to attack.
Right now, Mahoraga was suffering the effects of Qurious Affliction, but not for long.
Kinryu noticed that the wheel atop her head began to spin, prompting him to recall all of his Qurio. The red shikigami flew towards him, most of them attaching to his arm while the rest formed a blood red cape on his back, a pulsating light flowing into his body.
"She's going to adapt, huh?" He said, "I have to do that before she fully adapts to anything. So I have to be fast. This is very risky, but here goes nothing....."
Mahoraga immediately rushed Kinryu, swinging her blade down at him with ferocity. Kinryu dodged the attack and struck her with multiple punches imbued with cursed energy. The attacks struck hard and were able to slightly stun the shikigami, but they were meant to push him back.
As he landed on the ground, he clapped his hands together, pointing them right at Mahoraga.
"Piercing Blood Qurio"
Four large Qurio appeared in the air, charging up blood into their mouths as they aimed at Mahoraga. Then, four powerful thin beams of blood fired right at Mahoraga, striking her on her abdomen and head, causing explosions of blood. Then, without fail, the Qurio fired off another round of Piercing Bloods, striking her once again.
The impact of the attacks staggered her slightly, but they did no lasting damage as she was able to power through the attacks. As she walked forward, more Qurio latched onto her legs and arms, glowing dark red as the wheel above her head was spinning. Then, the Qurio detonated into crimson explosions as Kinryu released a dark crimson light from his body.
"Tch...." Kinryu said as he stepped back, placing his arms in front of him as he activated his Cursed Technique, "Here we go."
Mahoraga waved her arm and dispersed the smaller shikigami, smirking as she lunged at Kinryu who suddenly transformed. She struck two massive metallic wings that were furled, forming a shield. The figure in front of her was glowing slightly, covered in a dark red miasmic aura that slowly spread
"Let's make this quick." Kinryu's voice was a bit distorted as Mahoraga saw something in front of her, "Mahoraga!"
Mahoraga saw that she had struck a large dragon with dark scales and dull grey wings. However, upon closer inspection, the insides of the wings were a blood red. She looked at the eyes of a fierce dragon, a powerful surge of Cursed Energy surging from the body.
She pulled back, the wheel slowly turning. She then swung her blade at the dragon, attempting to cut it down. The Dragon suddenly disappeared, leaving a dark crimson afterimage. It then appeared behind Mahoraga as its body glowed the same dark crimson color.
"Vampiric Cleave"
The dragon suddenly swung its left wing down fiercely, a powerful wave of dark red energy erupting in the form of a cleaving slice, striking Mahoraga right in her side. The energy detonated into a massive pillar of dark red energy, causing a powerful explosion that shook the ground violently and caused red discharges of electricity in the air.
As the energy dispersed and the cloud dust disappeared, Mahoraga was staggering to the side, a serious scorch mark appearing on her left side.
Kinryu had suddenly appeared, already in his human form, and launched towards Mahoraga, touching her abs with his bare hand as a powerful shockwave of energy was released.
"Here we go, the real fight begins!" He said with a determined expression, "Mahoraga!"
