The morning air was crisp, carrying the faint scent of the gardens beyond the mansion gates. Leah's hands tightened around the railing as she stepped out, her heart pounding. The red-eyed stranger stood in the driveway, silent, watching the house. His presence radiated calm power, yet there was something familiar beneath it, something that made Leah's chest constrict.
"I have to do this," Leah said quietly, almost to herself.
Elias stepped beside her, arms crossed. "Leah… it's dangerous. You don't know who he is."
Dante's voice was firmer. "We can't let you walk up to him alone."
"I'll be careful," Leah said, her gaze fixed on the figure. "I know I can handle this. I have to know."
Elias exchanged a glance with Dante. After a long moment, he nodded slowly. "Then we go with you. But from a distance. If anything happens, we intervene immediately."
Leah inhaled deeply and nodded. "I understand. I won't put myself in danger, but I need to do this."
They began to move down the front path. Leah walked a few steps ahead, her eyes locked on the stranger. Elias and Dante followed behind, careful to keep some distance.
The stranger noticed her approach and tilted his head slightly, a soft, warm smile forming on his face. Leah froze mid-step. There was something… unmistakable about that smile.
"Leah," he said gently, his voice carrying across the morning air.
Her stomach tightened. She swallowed hard. Her lips parted. "Izana…" she whispered, but immediately shook her head. No… it can't be him, she thought. He couldn't possibly be here.
The stranger's smile softened further. "I've missed you."
Leah's heart ached. She wanted to believe. She stepped closer, her eyes searching his face for any proof. "If you're Izana, then… prove it," she said, her voice low, trembling.
Slowly, deliberately, the man reached out and took her hand. His touch was gentle, warm, grounding. He looked down at her, into her blue eyes, and said softly, "Beautiful."
Leah froze. Her eyes widened. A single tear escaped and traced down her cheek. That voice… that way he says things… it's him… it has to be him.
"I… Izana…" she whispered, barely above a breath. She took another hesitant step closer.
The man's smile deepened. "I'm back," he said warmly.
Leah couldn't contain herself any longer. She rushed forward and threw her arms around him, pressing her face into his chest. Her body shook as tears streamed freely. "Izana! Izana!" she repeated, over and over.
"I know… I know," he murmured into her hair, holding her tightly. "I'm here."
Elias and Dante watched from the edge of the driveway. Elias's eyes were sharp, assessing, but a subtle softness crept into his expression. Dante's jaw relaxed slightly as he saw Leah in Izana's arms. He's back… it's really him.
Leah's sobs shook her frame as she held him tighter. Her voice cracked. "I thought I'd never see you again… I thought you were gone forever!"
"I'm here," Izana said gently, stroking her hair. "I'm here. I promise."
Leah finally pulled back slightly, looking up at him. That's when she noticed a slight wince cross his face, subtle but unmistakable. Her heart skipped.
"Izana?" she asked, voice trembling. "Are you… hurt?"
He shook his head slightly, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead—a gesture she hadn't felt in years. "I'm okay," he said softly, his lips brushing her skin. "Just a little tired."
Leah blinked back tears, her hands resting on his chest. "You scared me… I thought something had happened to you."
"I'm here now," he said, smiling warmly again. "That's all that matters."
Elias stepped closer, keeping a careful distance. "Let's get him inside. You need to rest, and Leah… you need to calm down as well."
Dante fell in beside them. "We'll move carefully, step by step. Just follow my lead."
Leah nodded, still holding Izana's hand. Slowly, carefully, they led him toward the mansion. The red-eyed man—the man she had missed for years—walked with her, steady and deliberate, leaning slightly on Elias for guidance but maintaining his balance.
As they entered the foyer, staff and guards watched silently, their eyes wide. Whispers carried through the air. Everyone knew this was the moment they had been waiting for, though none had dared hope it would come like this.
Leah couldn't take her eyes off him. His presence filled the room, grounding her, pulling her from the years of fear and uncertainty.
"You… you're really here," she whispered, tears still glistening.
"I am," Izana replied, his voice soft but firm. "I've come back. I won't leave again."
Elias's eyes swept the room, taking in the reactions of the staff, the guards, and Leah. "Stay close," he said gently. "We move as a group."
Leah nodded, her fingers interlaced with Izana's. She pressed herself closer to him instinctively, needing the warmth, the reassurance, the reality of his presence.
As they guided him further inside, Leah's voice broke again, but this time with relief rather than sorrow. "I've waited for you… every day… every hour… I never stopped believing…"
Izana's hand cupped her cheek, brushing a tear away. "I know… and I've come back to stay," he whispered. "I promise. Always."
The mansion seemed to exhale collectively, the tension lifting slightly, replaced by a cautious hope. But Leah's eyes, scanning him, noticed the faint discomfort in his movement again—a reminder that, despite being back, he was not yet fully restored.
"I'll rest soon," Izana murmured. "I just… needed to see you first."
Leah pressed her forehead against his chest, inhaling the familiar scent, the warmth of him. "I don't ever want to let you go again," she whispered.
"You won't have to," he promised, his red eyes soft and familiar, glowing faintly in the sunlight streaming through the windows.
Elias and Dante flanked them, watching carefully, protective, ready to intervene if necessary. But inside, they both felt it—the unmistakable truth. Izana had returned. After all the years, all the uncertainty, all the fear… he was finally home.
For Leah, that was enough.
