Chapter 57 - Chapter 57: The Slime Engine

The physics held true. As the plum spun rapidly, the excess sugar syrup clinging to it was flung outward by the centrifugal force. Because the syrup was hot and the air was cool, the flying droplets stretched into long, thin strands before they could fall.

The sugar threads whipped around the fruit, wrapping it in a chaotic, shimmering cocoon of golden silk. It was accumulating, building up layer by layer.

"It's working." Ewan whispered, his eyes widening.

He stopped spinning and held up his creation. It wasn't exactly cotton candy. It looked more like a traditional sugar-coated fruit (Tanghulu) that had exploded, or perhaps a fruit trapped in a golden spider's web. The sugar formed a cloudy, spun-sugar nest around the tart plum.

Ewan carefully touched the strands. They snapped crisply. He pinched a bit off and put it in his mouth.

It was sweet and crunchy. But...
