The journey back to the lake area wasn't difficult. The four of them moved much faster than when they had entered the forest. The trek inward had required a slow pace to clear the path, bait old traps, and find spots for new ones. Heading back was simply a straight walk.
People often say darkness falls quickly in the woods. Just moments ago, while digging the traps, they could still see the glaring sunlight. Yet, upon returning to the clearer area near the lake, the four realized the sun was already setting. Twilight would be upon them shortly.
"Good thing that creature spooked us into leaving early. If we were still lingering in those sparse woods, it would be pitch black soon."
