I shot to my feet so abruptly that my chair scraped loudly against the floor.
Maximus nearly spilled his drink. "What happened?"
I turned toward him. "Didn't you say you only auctioned ordinary animals here?"
"Y-Yes? Why?"
I pointed toward the stage. "That bunny."
He glanced at the cage, then back at me. "What about it? It's adorable, isn't it?"
My smile disappeared. "Maximus."
He straightened.
"Y-Yes?"
"What I hate most in this world is doing business with shady people."
His face stiffened.
"So I suggest you answer my next question truthfully before I do something I'll regret later."
"W-Why are you looking at me like that?!"
I leaned closer. "Did you know what your assistant was acquiring?"
"N-No! I swear! Like I said, she handles the acquisitions! I only told her to make sure everything was legal! Why? What's wrong with the bunny?!"
I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. "You see, my idiotic business partner, the creature you're currently auctioning off?"
