Chapter 1 - Hero

A man pushed through the crowd. He wore a black shirt and blue jeans, topped with a black hoodie pulled over his head. A mask hid his face, leaving only his bluish eyes visible

The crowd barely noticed him, absorbed in their daily chaos.

Children darted between legs, shouting and laughing, bags bouncing from their shoulders. Cars roared down the street, horns blaring.

Around him tall buildings were standing, and over them big advertisements of different brands hung.

As he reached near a pedestrian signal, he stood near it waiting for it to turn green. In front of him a tall building on which the news was flashing across the LED screen.

The news anchor was sitting on a chair behind the table in front of her the president was sitting. The whole crowd looked up at the LED screen to hear what was happening.

The anchor continued to speak.

"As we all know today is the day when the hero Blackmask gave humanity a hope after he defeated one of the greatest threats to humanity: the dragon king." She paused for a moment and looking at the president said.

"How do you feel Mr. President about him and why do you think he disappeared after it."

The president moved his hand on the table and said with a calm voice.

"I am very grateful to the hero for saving humanity and about the question that why he disappeared the simplest answer to that is we also don't know why he disappeared."

The president moved his chair a little back and continued.

"He always wore a black mask due to which we don't have anything through which we can identify him. The only thing we have is that he is the only one with lightning ability."

The anchor asked while looking at him.

"Do you think he is hiding himself?"

The president moved his right hand and scratched his head. He stared at her for a second and then continued.

"No, it might be possible he is hiding himself or it is also possible that he died that day."

The news anchor looked toward the camera and said.

"So, you think he might be dead."

"Yes." The president said. "But if he is alive then we will welcome him happily"

The man stood there listening to it for a while waiting for the light to turn green.

As the light turned green.

He looked down from the screen and continued to move with the crowd.

While he crossed the road a big crowd of girls came running towards him. He moved to one side of the road letting them pass through easily.

As the crowd passed. He looked back to see what was happening.

The girls stood in front of a bank which was closed by the police and the area was also blocked by the police tape on which it was written: Do not Enter.

The officers were stopping the girls to cross the police tape.

"Please cooperate." One of the policemen said. "We are not allowed to let any one pass through this line.

The girls were screaming with excitement.

"We want to meet him."

"We want to meet our hero."

The police officers looked at each other while stopping them, worried that someone might get injured.

As all this happening the bank door opened, and a man came out of it.

He wore a black jacket that clung perfectly to his broad shoulders. A dark shirt beneath traced the lines of his chest, subtle but sharp. His long coat trailed behind him, swaying with every step as if it had its own presence.

His yellow hair, falling over his ears. The girls screamed loudly as they saw him coming out.

"Hello!" the hero said, waving his hand toward them.

The girls jumped in excitement, some even fainted.

"He looked at me." One of the girls said while her fingers touching her long hair.

One of the police officers ran toward him and whispered in the hero's ears.

"Sir, please ask them to go away. They are slowing our progress."

The hero nodded and shouted.

"Girls, I know you are here to meet me but let us work." He stopped for a second and moved near them in an instant.

"If you all agree to go then I will give you, my signature."

The girls agreed and moved their bags, bottles, anything they had on them toward him. He signed them and all of them moved on with excitement.

As everything ended the man carried on his journey moving through the city. He was looking around as if he was scanning the city.

At far end of the street he could see about four to five who looked like, that they are college students. They all were circled around a young man who wore the same uniform as them.

Except him everyone was laughing while he was crying. They were bullying him in front of this whole crowd, but no one did anything except they watched them and moved on.

The man was about to move near them but before he could do anything the boy who was being bullied gave them his purse and they all took it and moved away. After they all left the boy stood up and brushed the dust off his clothes.

As he was brushing the dust the man walked past him. He glared at the boy's uniform and read the college name: Blackmask college and continued to move away from the boy.

Everyone was busy in their own life. No one cared about others what they do and what they don't. it felt like they had forgotten how dangerous situation they were in.

A lot of things have changed. The man thought as he moved through the streets.
