Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Broken Memory Trap

Detective Lee Do-hyun moved with a speed no one had ever seen from him before. In the archive basement, he found a thin but crucial thread: "St. Jude's Forgotten Orphanage."The place where Jin-woo had spent his earliest years—before he became a killing machine.

— "He doesn't kill completely at random,"Do-hyun whispered as he prepared his weapon."He kills to fill the void this place carved into his soul. If Jin-woo still has even a trace of humanity left… he'll come here."

The Silent Trap

Do-hyun ordered the complete evacuation of the area surrounding the abandoned orphanage. No police cars. No flashing lights.Instead, he planted advanced thermal sensors and night-vision cameras in every corner. He and his team monitored everything from a camouflaged van at a safe distance.

The objective: catch him in the act—or at the very least, understand how he moves.

The Arrival of the "Shadow"

At midnight, Jin-woo's silhouette appeared at the rusted iron gate of the orphanage. He didn't walk—shadows themselves seemed to drag him inward.

[System Alert!][Location Detected: Forbidden Memory Ground.][Warning: Area under heavy surveillance.][Viewer Comment: "It's a trap! Don't go in… or better yet, go in and make them regret it!"]

Jin-woo stopped before the massive wooden door. Thanks to [Eye of Insight], he could see the thin sensor wires and the faint glimmers of hidden cameras behind the cracks.

He smiled coldly. He wasn't afraid—he was disgusted by Do-hyun's desperate attempt to weaponize his past against him.

The Psychological Game

Inside the surveillance van, the assistant whispered urgently:— "Sir! He's here! He's standing right at the door… but the thermal cameras aren't picking up any heat from him! He's showing up as a completely cold spot!"

Do-hyun gripped the radio.— "No one move. Wait until he goes deeper inside. I want him surrounded in the main hall."

Jin-woo entered.Instead of hiding, he began touching the crumbling walls.

Then—the show began.

Using [Evidence Fabrication], Jin-woo triggered all the sensors simultaneously, across multiple, distant points in the building.

— "What's happening?!" the assistant shouted."He's on the first floor, the second floor, and the domes at the same time! The sensors are going insane!"

The Confrontation

Do-hyun realized the trap was being dismantled. He jumped out of the van and sprinted toward the building alone, ignoring his team's calls.

He burst into the main hall—and found Jin-woo standing at its center, beneath moonlight pouring through the shattered roof.

In Jin-woo's hand was an old, tattered doll, pulled from the rubble.

He slowly turned toward Do-hyun.His eyes glowed with a terrifying violet light.

— "Do you really think this place means anything to me, Do-hyun?"Jin-woo said, his voice echoing through the hall as if rising from beneath the earth."This place created the monster you're hunting… and now you're standing inside its lair."

Jin-woo raised his hand.

In an instant, every camera and listening device in the hall exploded, crushed by the pressure of the Oath's energy.

Do-hyun stepped forward, aiming his weapon steadily at Jin-woo's head.— "You're not a ghost. You're just a criminal hiding behind visual tricks. Surrender now—or I'll end this show myself."

Jin-woo laughed.

This time, his laughter was layered with the echo of thousands of watching demons.

— "Go on… pull the trigger.""Shoot your past."
