Xander's POV
Kenji scraped his chair back, snatching his tray as he rose. I mirrored his movement, the harsh screech of metal on linoleum cutting through the cafeteria's buzz. Kenji's gaze dropped to Ash, who sat there wearing that insufferably satisfied look.
"I'll contact Seraphina immediately," Kenji declared, all business.
Ash gave a single nod. "Thanks."
I exchanged a loaded look with Kenji—no words needed. He shot Ash one final curt nod before we headed toward the tray station, silence stretching between us like a taut wire.
Kenji snorted as we dumped our trays, deliberately bumping my shoulder in what looked accidental but absolutely wasn't.
"Incredible what good sex does to a guy," he muttered, making sure I caught every syllable.
