Lyra's POV
"Like something major!" she whispers frantically. "Something about mate bonds!"
"Oh. Oh!" I say, finally understanding her excitement. "Wait, hold on. With who? I thought you told me no one currently at this school was giving you any kind of response."
"They weren't," Poppy explains breathlessly. "But there's a whole group of students transferring from another Alpha Academy today. I bumped into one in the cafeteria while I was waiting for you and I had to run here immediately to tell you everything!"
"Alright, slow down," I try to place my hands on her shoulders to get her to breathe. "What are they like? Did you get their name?"
Poppy stops bouncing around instantly. Her expression shifts and she looks down at the ground with uncertainty. "Their name," she begins quietly, "is Jade."
"Jade," I repeat, trying to process this information. "Jade. Got it, I'm listening. Tell me more about them."
