Lyra's POV
Kissing Xander felt like licking fire straight from the depths of hell itself.
Every single thing about the way his lips crushed against mine was like striking a match in complete darkness. The way his strong hands wrapped around my wrists with possessive intensity, the way his hips pressed into mine with desperate hunger. Every touch, every breath, every heartbeat lit me up from the inside out like gasoline meeting flame.
So it shouldn't have been a surprise when actual flames burst from my skin. Yet the sight of fire dancing across my fingertips shocked me completely, and the man holding me captive against the cold metal lockers. He jerked back as if I had physically burned him, his dark eyes wide with surprise as he stared at me while the flames licked dangerously close to my chin.
Just as quickly as they had appeared, the flames disappeared into nothing.
