Lyra's POV
The next morning, I pulled my hood low over my face as I crossed campus. When I reached the gym just after seven, Alaric stood in the center of the sparring mat with his arms folded across his chest. His expression was stone cold.
"You're late," he snapped.
"Sorry." I yanked off my hoodie and tossed it aside before dropping into my usual stretches. "I wasn't sure I'd be coming today."
Alaric's eyebrows drew together. "Why not?"
I focused on touching my toes. "You disappeared all last week. Figured you were finished training me."
"I'm not finished," Alaric said firmly. His jaw muscles tensed. "Especially not after what happened yesterday."
My stomach dropped. "This is about shifting class?"
"Professor Castillo told me about your episode," Alaric said sharply. "How could you let Xander provoke you like that?"
Provoke me? More like turn me into a puddle of hormones. My wolf practically purred at the memory.
