Lyra's POV
My eye twitched violently.
What the hell?
"Wait, are you being serious right now?" The words tumbled out before I could stop them.
Ash's expression darkened immediately.
"Do I look like someone who makes jokes?"
Right. Of course Destiny isn't something to laugh about. I forced myself to shrug, attempting nonchalance even though my heart was hammering against my ribs. "Considering you've despised me since day one, I figured this was just another creative way to torture me."
Without warning, Ash seized my forearm and thrust my wrist toward my face. The cast looked pathetic dangling there uselessly. His jaw clenched so hard I could hear his teeth grinding.
"Haven't you been tortured enough already?" The words came out like venom before he released my arm. It dropped to my side like dead weight. I stared at him, speechless.
This has to be some twisted game, my rational mind insisted.
