Chapter 1 - Ch1- Deadeye, apparently

The first thing Savi noticed was the floor.

Tatami.

Old. Clean. Familiar in a way that didn't belong to him—but didn't feel wrong either.

"…Huh."

He lay there for a few seconds, staring at the wooden ceiling beams above him.

No panic. No screaming. No dramatic where am I?

Just mild curiosity.

"I was… definitely not here before," he muttered.

He sat up slowly.

The room was small but neat. A futon folded near the wall. A low table. Sliding doors slightly open, letting in warm afternoon light. Outside, distant traffic mixed with birds arguing about something important.

Traditional Japanese house.

"…Not bad," he said. "Could be worse."

He looked down at himself. Casual clothes. Clean. Comfortable. No injuries.

Alive.

Again, apparently.

He stood up and walked to a mirror near the corner.

Black hair. Normal face. Nothing special. Nothing ugly either. The kind of face people forget easily.

"…Savi," he said.

"Guess that's me."

He stretched his arms once, feeling his body respond properly. No stiffness. No pain.

Too smooth.

That's when a voice spoke.

"You're surprisingly calm."

He froze—not in fear, just irritation.

"…Great," Savi sighed. "Another voice."

"Hey! That's rude."

The voice was female. Young. Clear. A little sharp around the edges.

"I'm not another voice. I'm the Deadeye Companion System."

He rubbed his temple. "Of course you are."

"You don't sound impressed."

"I don't like being ordered around," he replied flatly. "Or narrated. So let's get this straight early."

There was a short pause.

"…Tch. You're very annoying."

He smirked. Just a little.

"Good."

A translucent screen popped up in front of him. Simple. Clean. No flashy nonsense.

Deadeye Companion System

Status: Active

User: Savi

"You've been transmigrated into the world known as High School DxD."

"…DxD?" he repeated. "That one with devils, right?"

"Yes."

"And angels. And fallen angels. And people who can blow up buildings because they're emotional."

"…You did your homework."

"I like interesting things," Savi said, walking toward the open door. "This qualifies."

He slid it open fully and stepped into the small courtyard. A stone path. A tree. Quiet.

Peaceful.

"My house?" he asked.

"Yes. You live alone. Orphan. Parents died and left some money."

"How much?"

"…Enough that you don't starve."

"Perfect," he nodded."

He leaned against the wooden pillar, arms crossed.

"So. System."

"What."

"You're talking like a person," he said. "Not a machine."

"…I am advanced."

"Uh-huh."

She huffed.

"Don't look down on me. I'm here to help you survive."

"Of course you are," Savi smiled and said.

A few minutes later, he sat on the engawa, legs stretched out, watching the sky slowly change color.

"So," he said casually. "Any immediate danger?"

"No."

"Good."

"But supernatural activity exists in this town."

"I know that."

"And you will be given missions."

"hmm okay," he replied.

He glanced down at his hands.

"…Do I get something in return?"

The system hesitated.

"…You're supposed to ask that later."

"Too bad."

Another screen appeared.

Newbie Pack Available

"Oh?" His interest sparked immediately. "Now you're speaking my language."

"D-don't get excited. It's basic."

"Sure, sure."

"Open it."

A faint weight settled in his hands.

A real gun rested in his hands. Clean. Solid. Heavy in a reassuring way.

Savi picked it up.

"…Nice."

"Hey—be careful with that!"

He checked the grip. The balance. The trigger.

"Relax. I know how to respect tools."

Another presence settled in his mind. Cool, confident, and sharp—like a devil enjoying a little chaos.

"…Huh," he muttered. "That's comfortable."

"Starter Character Card: Dante (Partial Assimilation)."

"And the gun?"

"Starter Weapon: Revolver."

"Simple," he nodded. "I like simple."

He stood and stretched again.

"By the way."

"What now?"

A girl in a school uniform passed by the gate outside.

"…Just saying," he said casually, "I've always preferred a nice butt over big chests."

Silence.

Then—

"W-WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT?!"

"Because I like your reaction. I like interesting things, and it's interesting."
