Chapter 5 - Chapter 5:Quiet Days, Loud Ripples

Morning light spilled softly through the curtains.

Silver sat cross-legged on the living room floor, eyes fixed on the television. The volume was low, but the headline crawled loudly across the screen.

BREAKING NEWS: Unidentified villain clashes with the No.2 Hero—Endeavor.

Witnesses report the villain overwhelming Endeavor head-on before escaping.

The footage replayed from a shaky phone camera. Fire. Shattered asphalt. A white mask. A figure rising into the sky like a god that didn't care to be worshipped.

Silver blinked once.

"…Toe to toe, huh, not bad but I can solo this world with only one path." he muttered, tone flat.

Inside, something stirred—not pride, not excitement.

Good. The villain character is already becoming a rumor.

He reached for the remote, switching channels as if bored. Heroes arguing. Analysts speculating. Words like reflection, gravity, unknown quirk tossed around carelessly.

None of them mattered.

Footsteps echoed down the hallway.

Measured. Familiar.

Silver's shoulders relaxed instinctively.

"Silver," a voice called, warm and tired. "You up already?"

His father stepped into the living room, sleeves rolled up, tie already off despite it being early. Ame Shimura—office worker, middle management, his quirk can make cotton candy like when Goku about to do kamahamaha phase. Completely ordinary.

And alive.

Silver turned, letting a lazy smile form. A child's smile.

"Morning, Dad."

Ame glanced at the TV, then back at his son. "Big news, huh? Heroes sure have it rough."

Silver hummed noncommittally.

Ame hesitated for a moment, then smiled wider. "Hey—today's Sunday. How about we go to the amusement park? You've been cooped up lately."

Silver froze for half a second.

Then nodded eagerly. "Yeah. Let's go."

Inside his head:

Family bonding event detected. Probability of long-term emotional stability increased. Acceptable.

Ame chuckled. "You really are growing up fast danzo."

Silver tilted his head. "Dad… don't call me by that name."

Ame raised an eyebrow. "danzo?"

Silver grimaced. "It sounds… annoying."

Ame laughed. "You always say that. What, you don't like your own name?"

Silver looked away dramatically. "It feels like the name of some old villain who plots in the dark and dies pathetically."

Ame snorted. "You're weird, you know that?"

"Call me Silver," he said simply.

Ame ruffled his hair. "Alright, Silver."

The name settled comfortably in his chest.

The amusement park was loud. Colorful. Alive.

Silver walked beside his father, holding a stick of cotton candy—ironically made by someone else. Children laughed. Couples screamed on rides. Music blared from every direction.

This was peace.

For a moment—

His thoughts drifted.

Mom would've liked this.

Mezu Shimura.

A hero.

Her quirk let her control liquids—bend water like silk, ignite fuel into living flame. She'd smiled brightly on the screen, even when injured. Even when exhausted.

She'd died when Silver was five.

A "heroic sacrifice."

Silver's grip tightened slightly.

Heroes die for ideals. Villains die for nothing. Background characters survive.

He looked up at his father, who was fumbling with tickets, completely unaware of the war of thoughts happening beside him.

Good.

He forced a small laugh. "Dad, you're gonna drop those."

"Ah—right, right."

Normal child. Normal day.

That was the role.

And Silver played it perfectly.
