Chapter 11 - The Scales of Verdict

In the deepest sanctum of Heaven, an artifact older than divine law itself is awakened.

The Scales of Verdict—two colossal plates bound to an axis that predates reality—are raised. This is not a weapon of punishment, but of permission. The Scales do not judge actions; they decide who is worthy of existence.

As the artifact activates, balance across multiple realms begins to distort.

The God of Light speaks calmly. Raiyen believes himself to be a judge. Today, his weight will be measured.

Far below, Raiyen feels it instantly.

In the center of an abandoned city, the Godslayer Sigil reacts violently. An invisible pressure crashes down upon him, as if existence itself is trying to push him into submission. Veyra understands immediately—this is not a summons to battle, but to proof. Korrin adds coldly that the Scales will not measure Raiyen's kills, but his intent.

Raiyen accepts without resistance.

He is forcibly drawn into an astral court—an endless void of white and black. No weapons. No flames. No power to hide behind.

On one plate of the Scales is placed the Gods' claim: Order, Eternity, Control.

On the other stands Raiyen alone.

A divine voice accuses him of killing Gods, shattering faith, and disrupting balance. The Scales begin to tilt against him.

For the first time, Raiyen raises his voice.

He rejects their balance outright. Order built on sacrifice. Eternity that justifies suffering. Control that crushes freedom. With every truth spoken, the Scales slow, resisting their own judgement.

Raiyen steps forward and admits what the Gods never do—he is not perfect. He is not a god. But when the Gods felt hunger, they chose to consume worlds.

The Scales shake violently.

Then the God of Light speaks directly for the first time, questioning Raiyen's right to judge.

Raiyen answers without hesitation.

He is the one they killed.

The one they turned into a weapon.

And the one who is still holding back.

Silence consumes the court.

The Scales freeze.

The needle stops in the center—an impossible result. Neither side prevails. The system overloads as the God of Chains panics, unable to comprehend a stalemate.

The God of Light realizes the truth.

Raiyen is not part of the system.

He is a new variable.

The Scales crack as the verdict fails. The trial ends abruptly—judgement inconclusive.

Raiyen is expelled back into the mortal realm, collapsing to his knees. His breathing is heavy, but his Soul Flame remains unignited. Control is intact.

Korrin acknowledges the truth—they could not judge him. Veyra agrees, and understands why that failure terrifies Heaven more than his power ever did.

Raiyen rises calmly.

Next time, he will not limit himself to breaking systems.

In the shattered sanctum of Heaven, the God of Light stands alone before the cracked Scales of Verdict. At last, he speaks the truth aloud.

Raiyen cannot be judged.

Which means…

He must be faced.

The screen fades.
