Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Desert-Tail Fox

"Do you have a problem?" Qiao Sang had no choice but to stop and ask.

"If it weren't for you wasting so much time, I wouldn't have come here for nothing today," the girl complained.

Qiao Sang frowned slightly. "If I remember correctly, it was you who didn't show up when your number was called."

The girl immediately got worked up. "If you hadn't gone over so fast, it would've been my turn! Do you know you only sat down for two seconds? I was just about to go over!"

Qiao Sang was speechless.

Is there something wrong with this kid's brain?

She walked straight past the girl, preparing to leave. Though she was physically fifteen, inside she was an adult. The girl in front of her was wearing a high school uniform—in her eyes, just a kid.

What was the point of arguing with a brat, even if she won?

But before she could take two steps, the girl hurried in front of her again, blocking her way.

"Why are you leaving?" she demanded.

Qiao Sang looked at her calmly. "Do you want to fight?"

If something could be solved with fists, there was no need for words.

Arguing with brats wasn't meaningful—but giving them a beating still was.

"What?" This time, it was the girl's turn to be stunned.

"If we're fighting, go outside. If not, move," Qiao Sang said flatly.

She had slightly upturned phoenix eyes. Normally, when she was gentle and smiling, they just made her look pretty—but when she stared at someone without any warmth, they were intimidating enough.

The girl froze for a few seconds, glanced twice at Qiao Sang's school uniform, then looked at the Firefang Dog and Fat Family Dove. Gritting her teeth, she said, "Fine! Let's fight!"

The two of them went to an open area behind the Hanggang Beast Tamer Center. The space wasn't particularly large or small, with a few scattered people training their pet beasts.

Looking at the surroundings, Qiao Sang felt a bit surprised. "Isn't this a bad place for it? Don't we need somewhere with no people?"

The girl sneered. "What? Scared?"

Qiao Sang raised an eyebrow. "I was just worried you'd lose face. Since you want to do it here, then here it is."

"Come on!" The girl stepped her right foot to the side.

Seeing her stance, Qiao Sang placed the Firefang Dog down beside her.

The girl raised her hands, about to form a hand seal, when suddenly a leg swept horizontally toward her face.

She instinctively hugged her head and crouched down.

A rush of wind passed just above her scalp.

"What are you doing?!" Xu Linglan broke out in a cold sweat.

She quickly retreated two steps back, her face pale with shock, unable to believe that the girl in front of her—who looked younger—had just kicked at her head.

That kick… if it had landed, she'd be concussed on the spot!

Way too vicious!

Qiao Sang looked innocent. "Weren't you the one who wanted to fight?"

Who the hell meant this kind of fighting?!

Xu Linglan was utterly speechless. She felt Qiao Sang did it on purpose—but she had no proof.

"Beast tamers fight using pet beasts! Have you ever seen a beast tamer fight with their own hands?!" Xu Linglan shouted.

Qiao Sang paused, then said, "I'm not a beast tamer yet."

Xu Linglan: "..."

That was true—she had heard it earlier.

But that was just official certification. You've already contracted a pet beast, and you're saying you're not a beast tamer?

Xu Linglan stopped wasting words and directly formed a hand seal. A white star array lit up on the ground, and a white figure appeared within it.

Looking at her pet beast, Xu Linglan finally felt reassured.

"I'm a beast tamer, so I'll fight like one. What—are you too scared to use your pet beast against me?"

The savage girl opposite her was clearly a newbie beast tamer. The Fat Family Dove was a mid-level pet beast, so it couldn't be hers. That underdeveloped-looking Firefang Dog must be the one she'd contracted.

Her White Sand Fox had completed its first evolution just yesterday, becoming a Desert-Tail Fox.

What did she have to fight her with?

Desert-Tail Fox, the evolved form of White Sand Fox, had an extremely gentle temperament. Unlike its earlier stage where it was just known for its beautiful tail, after evolution, the Desert-Tail Fox's tail grew to over two meters long—five times its body length—and was the source of its power.

Qiao Sang looked at the white extraordinary creature with amber-colored pupils, and information instantly surfaced in her mind. She had just studied it yesterday, after all.

The Desert-Tail Fox in front of her was a mid-level pet beast, while the Firefang Dog had been born less than a month ago and had just been contracted, with no real training.

She couldn't win.

That conclusion formed instantly in Qiao Sang's mind.

Since the strength gap was obvious, she wasn't about to let the Firefang Dog go get beaten one-sidedly.

"Fat Family Dove, you go," Qiao Sang said, turning to the bird that had been standing quietly nearby.

"Jiu."

The Fat Family Dove shook its wings and didn't refuse, stepping straight in front of the Desert-Tail Fox.

Xu Linglan sneered. "That's not even your pet beast, is it?"

Qiao Sang nodded, not bothering to deny it.

"Heh. Fine, Fat Family Dove it is—I'll still win," Xu Linglan said, not stopping her.

Commanding someone else's pet beast was completely different from commanding one you'd raised yourself. Even though both were mid-level pet beasts, Xu Linglan didn't think she'd lose.

"Desert-Tail Fox, Sand Flow!" She decided to strike first.

"Mo!"

The Desert-Tail Fox lifted its head and cried out. Its two-meter-long tail swayed, gradually glowing with an earthy hue.

"Fat Family Dove, take off," Qiao Sang said calmly.

Just as the Fat Family Dove spread its wings to fly—

A red figure shot forward with a whoosh, slamming straight into the Desert-Tail Fox, forcibly interrupting the Sand Flow before it could be released.

The Fat Family Dove forgot to take off, its round head filled with question marks.

Wasn't it supposed to be me fighting?

It was the Firefang Dog.

Qiao Sang stared at the red figure in front of her, stunned.

"Ya!"

"Ya-ya!"

The Firefang Dog barked angrily at Qiao Sang.

She clearly sensed its anger—and its grievance.

The Firefang Dog was extremely unhappy!

Wasn't it her contracted pet beast?

Why was someone else fighting instead?!

Feeling its emotions, Qiao Sang felt her throat tighten and was just about to speak—

"That's despicable! You actually launched a sneak attack—and you're ganging up on me two-on-one!" Xu Linglan shouted furiously.

Although her White Sand Fox had evolved into a Desert-Tail Fox, her brain domain was only developed to 7%. She was still far from the Beast Codex's second awakening and couldn't contract a second pet beast.

The Desert-Tail Fox was mid-level—but so was the Fat Family Dove, and as a flying-type, it naturally countered her.

And then there was the Firefang Dog. It might only be beginner-level, but it was fire-type with high attack power.

If this turned into a two-on-one, she'd definitely be at a disadvantage!

Xu Linglan glared at the girl in front of her, teeth clenched.

This person wasn't just vicious—she was shameless!

Qiao Sang stood there for two seconds, then suddenly felt enlightened.

Two-on-one?

How had she not thought of that earlier?

This was a fight, not a competition. Winning was all that mattered—there were no rules.

Perfect timing, too. The Firefang Dog wanted to fight anyway, and she could also test its strength and verify the idea forming in her mind.

Looking at the sulking little guy in front of her, Qiao Sang smiled.

"Firefang Dog, come here."
