Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 Autumn Forest

At the highest peak of Mount Tensei.

Marshadow stared blankly at the glass bottle handed to him by the human cub.

He had encountered many humans before, and seen many things about them in their dreams and memories.

For example, this glass bottle contained a food called MooMoo Milk, which was highly nutritious and beneficial to both humans and Pokémon.

Especially human cubs; they needed it more than anyone else.

As far as Marshadow knew, human cubs were not like Pokémon; they were weak and fragile, and if they encountered misfortune, they would shatter like glass.

More importantly, Marshadow knew from the memories of the Rainbow Hero who had participated in the trials before.

Human cubs needed to drink Miltank milk during their infancy, because this would make them stronger and healthier.

And now, something so important to that human cub had been given to him.

It clearly didn't need any.

"Marsha..." Marsha murmured involuntarily.

Memories from the dream of the human cub brought back by Entei flashed through its mind.

...A sentiment?

The 35 points that Fuyuki possessed were hardly enough to quickly fill the dazzling array of items in the system shop.

He racked his brains for a long time, trying to find ways to earn Shock Points, but ultimately discovered that either his age was unsuitable or it simply wouldn't work.

After all, he was still a baby not even a year old, unable to walk or speak, and spent most of his time sleeping.

Finally, Fuyuki felt somewhat deflated.

Sigh, whatever, I'll just take it one day at a time!

Fuyuki lay on the "leaf bed" that Entei had made for him, thinking listlessly.

Seeing the little one suddenly sigh in a very human-like way, Entei couldn't help but wonder.

What was his little one worried about?

Or was he concerned about something?

Food? Entei's gaze fell upon the small mountain of berries piled up beside it.

As a legendary Pokémon, it didn't need to eat; this food was specially gathered for Little One, enough to last until next spring.

Was it still worried about safety?

Entei wanted to tell him that this was Mount Tensei, the territory of Lord Ho-Oh and their Ho-Oh Guard. No one, no Pokémon, was allowed to cause trouble here.

With its protection, no one could harm Little One.

Entei thought for a long time but couldn't figure out why Little One sighed.

It said nothing, simply walking silently to his side and lying down.

Hmm?

Fuyuki sensed Entei's arrival. He turned to look at Entei, at the Pokémon that was clearly protecting him.

Fuyuki had never imagined that he would be adopted by a Pokémon.

Even more unexpectedly, that Pokémon would treat him like its own child.

And now, had Entei noticed his sigh and come to silently keep him company?

It was impossible not to be moved, because Entei had been so incredibly kind to him all along.

Fuyuki turned and hugged Entei's large paw.

Entei, how should I treat you?

As a father? That was impossible. Calling a Pokémon "Dad" would be too strange.

As a Pokémon? But his current relationship with Entei was clearly not a traditional trainer-Pokémon relationship.

"Sigh!" Fuyuki couldn't help but sigh again.

Oh well, there's still plenty of time. If nothing unexpected happens, he'll be living with Entei for a long time.

Thinking about this now is useless. What's done is done. Instead of worrying about this, he should check how many Shock Points it would cost to buy Entei a Rare Candy.

If it wasn't too expensive, he'd just buy a few dozen and see if he could feed Entei to level 100.

That way, they could roam the world freely.

Rare Candy is a very special item. Unlike other goods, it can't be directly exchanged. Instead, you need to select a Pokémon nearby to see its price.

Fuyuki thought of "Entei" in his mind.

Soon, the price appeared next to the Rare Candy.

[Rare Candy (Entei Only): A Rare Candy used to level up Pokémon. Exchange Requirement: 46,000 Shock Points.]

Fuyuki: "..."

Entei thought the little one was probably bored from sleeping in the cave all the time, hence the sigh.

Although a Pokémon, Entei knew that human cubs needed careful care and protection.

So that afternoon, on a relatively warm day, Entei picked up the little one and took him for a walk in the forest.

It was late autumn, and the entire forest was increasingly desolate. A north wind blew, and some people dressed in light clothing couldn't help but shiver.

Normally, this kind of weather wasn't suitable for taking cubs out, as it could easily cause them to catch a cold.

But with Entei around, these weren't major problems.

The sacred fire within Entei roared like molten lava, its entire body radiating a constant, intense heat that protected and warmed Fuyuki.

Fuyuki rode on Entei's back, taking a rare stroll. His attention was immediately drawn to the wild Pokémon inhabiting the forest.

A Mankey darted among the trees using vines; the wary but respectful Cubone and Marowak mother and cub; and groups of Kangaskhan with their babies roamed the forest…

These Pokémon moved about busily through the forest.

Fuyuki observed them with great curiosity.

Soon, he noticed something.

Were these Pokémon wandering the forest in search of food?

That must be it. Pokémon are truly magical creatures; they too can sense the approach of winter.

As Fuyuki knew, many Pokémon had the habit of collecting and storing food before winter arrived.

He saw the group of Kangaskhan lingering beneath a berry tree. The large, yet gentle-looking mother Kangaskhan used her paws to pluck berries from the tree and then handed them to her baby Kangaskhan nestled in her pouch.

The baby Kangaskhan happily ate the berries.

The mother Kangaskhan smiled tenderly as she watched her child eat the berries.

There were several Kangaskhan, and in no time, only a few berries remained on the tree.

The Kangaskhan, having filled their bellies, turned and left.

Seeing this scene, Fuyuki couldn't help but think of the small mountain of berries that Entei had collected over the past few days.
