Kade's eyes narrowed. "What?"
"Perfect wife," Dakota repeated, her voice taking on a mocking singsong quality. "You know.... gentle? Obedient? Sweet? Accommodating?" She punctuated each word with a drink. "Someone who doesn't argue? Who supports their mate quietly? Who makes his life easier instead of harder?"
"Dakota....."
"Because that's Maya," Dakota continued, ignoring his interruption entirely. "That's my perfect older sister. She's kind and gentle and follows all the rules. She'd make the perfect wife for anyone. Supportive, understanding, never demanding too much. Patient. Forgiving. All the things a good mate should be." Yes, she has always been jealous of her, as a fellow woman but has never taken it far.
Dakota laughed again, that same wild sound. "And then there's me. Wild Dakota. Reckless Dakota. Dakota, who makes catastrophically bad decisions and watches everything fall apart, and loses her goddamn mind from...."
