Ada Wong stood on the edge of a cold cliff, the night wind fluttering the hem of her red dress.

In the field of view of her monocular, that crumbling rooftop had already turned into an asura field.

The corpses on the ground were already piled up like mountains.

But even more Villager were swarming in from all directions of the village. They set up more ladders, roaring and climbing like an endless swarm of ants.

If this continued, they would be worn down to death.

Ada's fingertips lightly brushed over the cold-looking semi-automatic sniper rifle beside her, which Wesker had prepared for her in advance.

Fire directly to provide support?

That would expose her position and disrupt the plan.

Her gaze quickly swept through the village, searching for a fulcrum that could change the tide of battle.

Soon, her gaze fell upon the deepest part of the village, on that towering church bell tower that gleamed grayish-white under the moonlight.

She skillfully set up the sniper rifle, the butt pressed against her shoulder. The crosshairs through the high-magnification scope steadily locked onto the massive bronze bell hanging at the top of the tower.

The distance was far, and the wind speed was high.

But for her, this was not a problem.

Her finger lightly rested on the trigger.

Bang!

A dull and distant gunshot pierced the night sky.

The bullet traced a trajectory in the air invisible to the naked eye, accurately striking the massive bronze bell.

Dong—!

A distant, heavy toll with a strange penetrating power resounded through the entire valley without warning.

On the rooftop, Leon was just about to eject a shell casing when he suddenly heard the bell, his movements coming to a sharp halt.

Beside him, Noah also stopped swinging his axe.

An eerie scene unfolded.

The Villager, who were waving weapons and climbing up with faces full of madness, had their expressions instantly freeze.

The entire boisterous, boiling village became terrifyingly quiet at this moment.

The fanaticism and violence on their faces receded rapidly like a tide, replaced by numbness and emptiness.

They dropped their weapons, turned around, and with stiff, orderly steps, began walking slowly toward the church from where the bell had sounded.

The battle ended in the most absurd way possible.

On the rooftop, Leon looked at this unbelievable scene, feeling a bit dazed... Ada watched the two of them loot the entire village like bandits with amusement.

Just as the two were preparing to leave, Noah turned his head and cast his gaze across several hundred meters toward the cliff where Ada was located.

He raised his hand and waved toward Ada's direction.

Through the binoculars, Ada clearly saw his calm profile and that waving hand.

This man... Ada put away the binoculars and shrugged helplessly.

There's really no surprise at all.

She stood up, brushed the dust off her dress, and her red figure blended into the night.

That fellow Luis should already be waiting for me at the church... Just as she turned around.

A faint electronic hum, audible only to her, sounded from the miniature communicator in her ear.

Wesker.

The trace of playfulness on Ada's face vanished instantly, replaced by professional coldness. She pressed the receive button.

"What's the situation?"

Albert Wesker's characteristic low, emotionless, gravelly voice sounded in her ear.

"Luis has hidden the 'Amber'," Ada's voice was equally flat. "I've already told him to go retrieve it."

On the other end of the communicator, there was a brief silence.

Only the background noise of data flowing could be heard.

"Command room, are you listening?" Ada asked.

In a dimly lit room, Albert Wesker sat quietly in a large leather chair.

No emotion could be seen on his face, which was forever hidden behind sunglasses.

On the massive holographic screen in front of him, complex gene sequence maps and ecological analysis data of parasites were constantly scrolling.

The lenses of his sunglasses reflected the strings of cold data on the screen.

"I'm listening, continue."

"The situation is more troublesome than imagined," Ada's voice came through. "The local parasites have undergone mutations beyond our expectations. The Church of Light's control here is deep-rooted."

"And so?" Wesker's voice carried impatience with such inefficient reporting. "Do you have a plan?"

"Luis has already headed toward the church; I have his movements fully accounted for." Ada avoided Wesker's question and turned to report her core mission instead.

"Very good." A hint of pleasure finally seeped into Wesker's voice. "Make your move quickly as well. I need that sample, an intact sample."

"Understood. Out."

Ada cut the communication and saw the large number of Villager walking toward the church below.

She tapped her lips: I seem to have told Luis to wait for me at the church... That red figure completely disappeared into the darkness behind the cliff... On the small square in front of the church, Luis Sera gave a large yawn.

Following the mysterious woman's instructions, he had avoided various troubles along the way and arrived at this agreed-upon meeting point.

As a result, after waiting for a long time, he hadn't seen a single soul besides the cold wind in the valley.

"What the hell..." He fished a crumpled cigarette out of his pocket and was about to light it.

Dong—!

The distant sound of the bell suddenly rang out from the church behind him.

Luis was startled, and the cigarette in his hand dropped to the ground.

What's the situation?

Prayer time? It's not time for service now.

He bent down to pick up his precious cigarette; however, his hand stopped before it touched the ground. He heard countless footsteps swarming toward the church where he was from all directions of the village.

Luis snapped his head up.

He found that on the several main roads leading to the church, there were dense crowds of figures.

The Villager of the entire village had come.

Their hands were empty, and they just lowered their heads, walking with stiff steps like puppets controlled by invisible threads, their eyes empty as they walked toward the church.

Luis was completely stunned.

"¡Mierda!" he cursed under his breath and turned to hide.

But it was already too late.

The Villager had already stepped onto the square. They didn't look at Luis, but just walked toward the church doors with numb piety.

Luis was blocked in the center of the square by this eerie tide of people.

He could only press against the wall, trying his best not to attract attention as he watched this group of walking dead pass by him.

Just then, he saw a familiar face.

A wrinkled old woman was walking past him tremulously, leaning on a cane.

"...Auntie Rhodes?" Luis called out subconsciously.

He remembered her.

When he was a child, he often stole freshly baked bread from her family's bakery.

She would always chase him halfway across the village while cursing, and then the next day, she would quietly leave a warm loaf of bread at his doorstep.

The old woman heard the voice and turned her head sluggishly.

Her eyes were empty and cloudy, without any light belonging to a human being.

But the moment she saw Luis, that emptiness was instantly replaced by an extreme madness!

"¡Intruso!"

The old woman let out a sharp shriek. She raised her cane and, with all her strength, swung it fiercely toward Luis's head!

Luis instinctively leaned to the side to dodge.

And this scream caused all the Villager to stop in their tracks.

Hundreds of pairs of empty eyes turned in unison toward Luis by the wall.

The next second.

Those numb faces simultaneously displayed a bloodthirsty madness identical to Auntie Rhodes's!

"Aaaah—!"

A middle-aged burly man closest to Luis roared and lunged forward.

Luis recognized him; it was the village blacksmith, Mateo.

When he was a child, he had even sat on Mateo's shoulders to watch the village bonfires.

And now, this 'uncle' who once let him ride on his shoulders only wanted to smash his head with a fist the size of a clay pot.

Luis had no weapon and could only dodge clumsily, constantly moving through the gaps in the crowd.

He didn't want to hurt these people he once knew.

But his survival instinct forced him to fight back.

He tripped a young man who rushed up, knocked aside another, and then slammed his elbow hard into Mateo's chest.

Mateo let out a muffled groan, his movements stalling.

Luis seized the opportunity, ducked under his arm, and dashed toward the square's exit.

However, there were too many people.

He had just dashed two steps when he was hit hard from behind.

He staggered, before he could steady himself.

A sharp pain came from the back of his head.

His vision went black, and he lost all consciousness... Who knows how much time passed.

Luis woke up from a state of Chaos.

He felt like he had been thrown into a tumble dryer; his whole body felt like it was falling apart.

It was pitch black all around.

He wanted to move, but found that his hands and feet were tightly bound.

A piece of dry, hard rag was stuffed in his mouth.

The pungent smell characteristic of burlap, mixed with dirt and mildew, drifted into his nostrils.

Was I put into a sack?

As soon as this thought surfaced, Luis's heart sank.

He struggled and squirmed, trying to figure out where he was.

But it was all in vain.

He could only feel that he was lying on a cold, damp floor, with silence all around.

I've really messed up this time.

That woman in the red dress probably won't come to save me either.

Just when his heart was like cold ashes.

BOOM!!!

The sound of a massive explosion came from beside him.

Luis's brain went blank.

He couldn't even let out a groan before he lost consciousness again, letting his body vibrate powerlessly in this endless darkness along with the world-shaking explosion...
