The shower hadn't done much to wash away the tension. Shiro sat at his desk downstairs, the damp hair clinging to his forehead the only remnant of the hot water, but his mind was still upstairs, fixed on his bedroom window.

He knew he wasn't alone in this house. Or, at least, he hadn't been a few minutes ago.

It wasn't paranoia; it was sensory input. When he'd stepped out of the bathroom earlier, towel in hand rather than around his waist, he had heard it clearly. A low, vibrating purr echoing from just outside the glass. It was too loud for a normal stray, and definitely too appreciative.

He had frozen, his hand twitching as the mana surged reflexively in his gut. A Spark spell would have been easy. Just one snap of his fingers to fry whatever, or whoever, was perched on the sill. But he hadn't done it. He'd forced his hand down and dressed in silence. He was already sticking out like a sore thumb in this town; blasting lightning out of his bedroom window would only paint a bigger target on his back.

Shiro pushed his finished homework aside, the mundane calculus feeling absurdly trivial compared to the blank sheet of paper he pulled in front of him now. He needed to strategize.

He uncapped a pen and wrote a single name at the top: Kalawarner.

Beside it, he wrote the number: 23.

That was the reality check. Her power level was twenty-three. His was sixteen. In a fair fight, she would crush him. To survive, let alone win, he needed to close that gap. He needed his stats to match hers, or at least his skills to be versatile enough to bridge the difference.

"How do I level up fast enough to take her out?" Shiro muttered, tapping the pen against the paper. "If I don't, I'm the one getting erased."

His original plan for the afternoon had been casual, hop into the Skyrim instance dungeon, maybe grab a few new spells, mess around with the mechanics. That leisure was gone now. The dungeon wasn't a playground anymore; it was a training ground.

He started listing what he knew for certain, grounding himself in the facts.

The Date: Saturday. The same day Issei was meeting his "girlfriend."

The Timeline: The hit on Issei, Isabella, would likely happen around 6 or 7 PM, right as the sun began to set.

The Location: The park. And if they were hitting Issei there, it was a safe bet Kalawarner would try to corner Shiro in a similar secluded spot.

A familiar blue chime rang out in the quiet room, floating in his peripheral vision.

[ INT and WIS has risen by +1 each ]

Shiro stared at the semi-transparent box with a flat expression. He wasn't sure if he should be pleased or annoyed. There was something deeply ironic about the System rewarding him for acting like a paranoid TV detective scribbling notes in a dim room. Was this God's idea of a joke?

Still, he wouldn't turn down free stats. Having a plan is only half the battle, he thought, rubbing his temples. So, what's the execution look like?

He began jotting down the mechanics he'd discovered regarding stat growth, needing to see them in black and white to find the most efficient path.

Physical (STR, AGI, END): Improved through combat or intense exercise. Note: Weighted gear accelerates this significantly.

Mental (INT, WIS): Improved through reading and studying.

Constraint: WIS requires critical analysis/problem solving.

Constraint: Only specific, high-level books trigger an INT increase. Maybe one in a hundred works.

He sighed, leaning back in his chair, and mentally called up his status window. The glowing text overlaid his vision.

Name: Shiro

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Title: None

Fame: None

Level: 16

Exp: 12%

HP: 150

Mana: 160

STR: 16

END: 14

AGI: 15

INT: 11

WIS: 16

LUK: 10

Points: 39

Money: $1000

He frowned at the numbers. He needed to improve everything, but Intelligence was glaringly low at 11. It was his weakest link. If he could push that to thirty, the boost in magical potency might give him a fighting chance.

He looked back at his notebook and started a shopping list for the Skyrim instance. He couldn't just wander aimlessly; he needed tools that would let him grind stats even when he wasn't in the dungeon.

List:

Conjuration: Bound Sword (always armed, no evidence), Basic Familiar (distraction/scouting).

Alteration: Oakflesh (essential defense).

Illusion: Fury (chaos is good), Courage.

Gear: New armor set. Requirement: Needs to be at least twice as heavy as current gear for passive strength training.

Skills: Improve Enchanting and Smithing.

He tapped the paper one last time. There were still unknowns, variables he couldn't account for, but the paralysis of uncertainty was gone.

Shiro allowed himself a small, grim smile. He had a plan. Now he just had to execute it without dying.

He glanced at the digital clock on his desk.

4:00 PM.

"Alright. I've got six hours in this world. That gives me three days in that one."

Shiro muttered the calculation under his breath as he stepped into his bedroom. He moved with practiced efficiency, shutting the windows and drawing the curtains until the room was pitch black. He didn't waste a second, kicking off his shoes and lying back against the pillows.

He took a slow breath to center himself, then raised his left hand. The familiar blue light shimmered into existence.

[Skyrim World: Lv 2]

[Enter?]

[Yes / No]

Shiro didn't hesitate. He pressed [Yes].
