Chapter 59 - Chapter 59 Finding a way to cope

While there were many benefits to becoming a Vampire, Mike, who had a system, didn't care for them.

He took two steps back, maintaining a vigilant posture, and said, "Thank you for your kindness, but I'm not interested in becoming a Vampire."

Selena was a bit surprised by this answer. Then, she subtly threatened, "Don't make a decision so quickly. Perhaps you'll regret this decision later...

How about a week? I'll give you a week to consider."

Seeing that there was still room for maneuver, Mike breathed a sigh of relief.

"Okay, I'll give you my answer in a week," Mike said, planning to use that week to think of other ways to deal with Selena.

Now that things had come to this, how much worse could they get?

Watching Mike's hurried departure, Selena licked her red lips and murmured, "He truly lives up to being the man I've set my sights on; he can actually resist my temptation."

In fact, when Selena went to find Mike that morning, she had already used her "Charm" talent. An ordinary person under such temptation would probably have long become a puppet controlled by desire.

And Selena's willingness to give Mike a week was not out of kindness.

She had already decided in her heart that if the other party couldn't give her a satisfactory answer in a week, she wouldn't mind draining the blood of all the town's residents.

Before, Selena had already enjoyed the delicious taste of blood in New York.

Those whose blood she drained, if unlucky, turned directly into dust. If luckier, they would be infected with blood poison and become Blood Servants.

Compared to pure Vampires, Blood Servants, apart from having a long lifespan, were even physically weaker than ordinary people.

Moreover, Blood Servants were a species that died upon exposure to light, destined to live in darkness their entire lives.

Previously, Selena hadn't drained the blood of the town's residents because she was afraid of being discovered by the church.

Now, she had given Mike the right to choose. If he couldn't satisfy her, she naturally wouldn't mind using the lives of the entire town as punishment for Mike before she left.

As for directly killing Mike, Selena was a bit reluctant, simply because he had a handsome face.

On the other side, Mike, walking down the road bathed in sunlight, finally felt a bit better. The awkward feeling he had in his mind before had completely disappeared.

Selena was really a Vampire. Mike, having confirmed this fact, still felt a bit unreal.

While lamenting his "good luck," he decided to go to the church to see if he could get any help there.

After all, when it came to dealing with Vampires, the church was the professional counterpart.

The only church in town was not far from Connie's.

At this moment, Pastor Jeff was reading from the gospel in the church.

Mike quietly slipped in through the main door and sat in the back row. He was waiting for the service to end before going to ask Pastor Jeff about the Vampire.

"On the first day of creation, God said: Let there be light! And so there was light in the world..." Pastor Jeff stood on the platform, proclaiming the greatness of God's creation.

In the third row, Sheldon, due to the unpleasantness God had brought him last time, was looking for flaws in Pastor Jeff's words.

Hearing Pastor Jeff mention "light," he immediately raised his small hand.

"Very good, Sheldon, do you have any questions?" Pastor Jeff called on Sheldon, but beneath his smile, it was clear he didn't want to do so.

"Pastor Jeff, as far as I know, God only created light on the fourth day," Sheldon asked, "So, was the world dark for the first three days?"

"That shouldn't be..." Pastor Jeff tried to explain, "God brings light to the world."

"Very good, so that means God is a photon?" Sheldon continued.

"Yes... No, God is God, he is not anything," Pastor Jeff almost got sidetracked.

In the hearts of believers, God is omnipresent, a belief, not something that can be replaced by any substance.

And when it came to physics, Pastor Jeff was clearly no match for Sheldon.

Seeing Pastor Jeff about to make a fool of himself, Connie joyfully said from the side, "Oh ho, Jeff's in for it."

Mary glared discontentedly at her mother, then tugged at Sheldon, telling him to stop talking.

However, Sheldon wouldn't let go of this opportunity. He changed the subject and continued to ask, "Pastor Jeff, I read in the gospel that 'God loves the world.' Does 'the world' here refer to Earth people, or the entire universe? Are distant tentacled aliens included in 'the world'?"

Clearly, this time Sheldon had done his homework in advance to get back at him.

"Uh..."

Facing Sheldon's sophistry, Pastor Jeff thought for a moment and said, "God is omnipotent, and of course he will also protect aliens, regardless of whether they acknowledge God's existence."

Here, Pastor Jeff subtly pointed out the fact that Sheldon did not believe in God. And, with magnanimity, stated that God would still protect him.

"Very good." Sheldon nodded, then pressed on, "What form will God take when he appears before aliens? After all, creatures with eight tentacles wouldn't like a human form with only four limbs. Also, I want to know, does God speak aliens language?"

"This..." Pastor Jeff dared not casually invent God's image. His mind blank, he could only stand there awkwardly.

There were hundreds of believers in the church, some looking at Pastor Jeff, waiting for his explanation. Others looked at the challenging Sheldon, their eyes revealing displeasure.

As a believer, Mary knew that Sheldon's behavior was already considered blasphemy against God.

She quickly tugged at her husband's clothes and whispered, "Quick, pretend to be sick. We need to leave here..."

Given Sheldon's situation, if they didn't leave the church soon, they might very well be troubled by the other believers.

George understood, cooperatively clutching his chest and looking distressed.

"Oh, George, what's wrong with you?" Mary dramatically exclaimed, "We need to go to the hospital!"

Immediately, she helped her husband walk out, and on the way, she also kicked awake Georgie, who was sound asleep and drooling.

Connie, seeing the situation was not good, also woke up Missy, who was catching up on sleep. Then, she pulled Missy and a very reluctant Sheldon, following Mary's footsteps.

A farce ended. Pastor Jeff's mind was filled with aliens, and he had no interest in continuing to read the gospel.

Thus, not long after the Coopers left, this church service also ended hastily.

After all the believers in the church had left, Mike came closer: "Pastor Jeff, I have something I need your help with."

"If I'm not mistaken, you're Mike, who's staying at Connie's..." Pastor Jeff recognized Mike and saw that he had come to church in his pajamas. Pastor Jeff said with a smile, "I think God has already felt your enthusiasm."

Even though he knew that demons and Vampires existed in the world, Mike still did not believe in God. However, he didn't explain much, but instead asked directly, "Pastor Jeff, do you know if God has a way to deal with Vampires?"

Hearing another strange question, the smile on Pastor Jeff's face froze. He patiently explained, "As far as I know, there are no Vampires in the world."

The other party indeed didn't know about Vampires. Mike was a bit disappointed, but he still continued, "Why not? If you believe in the existence of God, then corresponding demons should also exist, such as Vampires."

"Alright." Pastor Jeff was confused. He forced himself to say, "Even if demons exist, they should all have been subdued by God, so you don't need to worry."

"What if there are some that haven't been subdued?" Mike said, "For example, Vampires that were missed, how would God deal with them?"

"Uh, it should be with holy water, or by nailing a wooden stake through their hearts!" Pastor Jeff said, playing along.

"Then, can you give me some holy water, or a wooden stake that can pierce a Vampire?" Mike asked.

Pastor Jeff had never encountered such a strange request in his life.

Moreover, this was too difficult for Pastor Jeff. He said, "Sorry, I don't have what you're looking for here."

"Then could you please ask others in the church if they have anything to deal with Vampires?" Mike stated his purpose for coming.

Seeing the other party's hopeful expression, Pastor Jeff, although finding it absurd, couldn't refuse and could only say, "Alright, I'll call the bishop and let you know when I have an answer."

At the same time, in his mind, he also planned to ask the bishop about aliens.
