Chapter 126 - Chapter 127 Playing Games

The game is very complex, often requiring a Dungeon Master to introduce the story background and then help players embark on a grand fantasy adventure, commonly known as 'running the map'.

Players can also use dice rolls to determine the development of events and the outcome of battles. The dice are divided into different-sided dice such as D20, D8, D6, and D4.

As the game progresses, players can also increase their combat power by leveling up through defeating monsters, and they can also pick up equipment dropped by monsters to make themselves stronger.

Moreover, each character possesses different skills. For example, a Dragon can use fire attacks to damage opponents through obstacles. An Elf Hunter can also cause long-range damage with a bow and arrow.

Overall, this is a large-scale online game that does not require programs or code.

Players can, under the Dungeon Master's introduction, complete various fantasy experiences such as slaying monsters to level up, picking up equipment, and entering dungeons.

After several small-scene games, Georgie and Tam, representing the side of justice, were defeated in every battle between good and evil, even though Tam also served as the Dungeon Master.

In fact, the Dungeon Master can increase the game difficulty for a certain faction based on personal preference. For example, in sudden events, they can increase the combat power or number of monsters.

It was very clear, however, that Mike and Sheldon, representing the evil faction, were not afraid of Tam's challenges.

"Awesome, the Demon has won again!!!" Several small-scene explorations had already made Sheldon fully immerse himself in the role.

Seeing his character, the Demon, once again repel Georgie's Hero, Sheldon cheered loudly.

Watching her younger son's excited demeanor, Mary's brows furrowed deeper and deeper. Finally, after another game ended, she gestured to Mike with her eyes to talk aside.

"Mike, I'm not saying winning is bad…" Mary organized her thoughts and said, "Can you, perhaps, let Georgie and them win once?"

"Why?" Mike had just found the fun of the game after several small victories.

"You represent evil… I'm sorry, Mike, I'm not saying you… I mean, the side of justice should win…" Mary stammered incoherently.

As a Christian, Mary couldn't stand to see a Demon win, not even in a game.

And if possible, Mary really didn't want her younger son to participate in such a game as a Demon.

In her opinion, this would have a bad impact on Sheldon's young mind.

However, in Mike's view, this was just a game and had nothing to do with evil or justice. Mary's current reaction was simply too sensitive.

Just as Mike was about to try to persuade her otherwise, Connie, who had followed along, also understood the meaning of her daughter's words.

She shook her head and said, "Mary, you're worrying too much. Even if Sheldon wins, he won't turn into a Demon."

"No, Sheldon is still too young, he doesn't know what he's doing." Clearly, Mary had not stopped worrying.

Seeing Mary's overly agitated expression, Mike shook his head slightly and said, "Alright, I know what to do."

Returning to the living room, Mike suggested that the players in the game switch roles.

Sheldon had no objections to this; the previous few small battles were too easy, and he also wanted to add a bit of game difficulty for himself.

As for Tam, who was very good at reading expressions, he had already noticed Mary's troubled look. He mistakenly thought that she didn't want to see everyone playing games here.

So, Tam was already thinking about how to leave Cooper family. He didn't pay much attention to the idea of swapping roles.

And Georgie, who received the Dragon card, was the most excited person now. He wanted to rampage with this character card, just like Mike did before.

Thinking of that scene, Georgie couldn't help but smile.

However, he soon couldn't smile anymore.

In the subsequent scene exploration, Mike and Sheldon, now on the side of justice, tormented the evil faction over and over again.

During this process, the smile on Georgie's face slowly transferred to Sheldon's face.

"Awesome— The Hero is invincible!!!" Sheldon, who got the Hero card, barely managed to repel the Dragon played by Georgie.

Helping the side of justice gain an advantage made Sheldon cheer happily.

"Alright, it's getting late. I should go back." Tam, who had been out of sorts for the next few small games, seized the opportunity to pack up the board game he had brought.

Sheldon originally wanted to play a bit longer, but when he saw the sky outside the window, he still said, "That's really a shame, let's play together next time we have time."

Throughout the entire afternoon, Sheldon had his fill of gaming, and he didn't keep Tam much longer at this point.

"Okay, okay—" Tam replied without much sincerity, then avoided Mary's gaze and quickly left Cooper family.

He had already decided that he would never bring games here to play again.

"How about it, Mary? I told you it's just a game…" After the game dispersed, Connie said to Mary.

You see, in the subsequent games, Sheldon won as the Hero. This proves that he didn't have too many thoughts about the character.

A game is just a game.

"I'm still not quite at ease…" Mary said with a frown.

Although Sheldon didn't play the role of the Demon afterward, which calmed Mary's mood somewhat.

However, Sheldon's cheering after winning as the Demon earlier was still deeply etched in Mary's mind.

She even felt that at that moment, an evil force had taken control of her younger son.

As soon as this thought appeared, Mary felt uneasy. She was still thinking about it until her husband came home that night.

"George, do you know? Something very scary happened this afternoon…" Taking advantage of a little time before dinner, Mary pulled her husband, who had just returned from work, aside.

Then, she completely recounted what happened that afternoon regarding Sheldon.

George, who was already tired from a day's work, listened to his wife's words and said perfunctorily, "Mary, your worries are completely unnecessary. Look, isn't Sheldon doing fine now?"

At the dining table, Sheldon was sitting quietly as usual.

And next to him, Missy was enthusiastically clinging to Mike.

The little girl hadn't seen Mike for a week, and she was currently expressing her affection.

"Forget it, you wouldn't understand even if I told you. I'll just figure it out myself." Mary thought her husband wasn't a Christian, so he wouldn't understand her feelings.

She decided it would be better to handle this matter by herself.

"Whatever you say."

George shook his head and said no more.

So, after dinner, Mary found a corner and called Pastor Jeff.

On the other side, Pastor Jeff was having a candlelight dinner for two at his home.

After Connie's encouragement earlier, Pastor Jeff bravely pursued the female traffic police officer. After some interaction, they found their personalities and ages were very compatible, so their relationship progressed very quickly.

In the romantic atmosphere, the two middle-aged people in love entangled from the dining table all the way to the sofa.

Just as the two were about to break through again, Pastor Jeff's phone rang.

"Ignore it, let's continue…"

Pastor Jeff was forced to hang up the phone once, but when the middle-aged couple reached a critical moment again, the phone rang again.

"Wait!" Pastor Jeff, with astonishing willpower, answered the phone.
