Chapter 174 - Chapter 175 Troubles (Continued)

In the museum lecture hall, as the female teacher spoke, Paige's face showed a bored expression.

It was much the same for Mike and Sheldon.

All three of them discovered that the course the female lecturer was teaching was almost identical to the information in the brochure.

Paige, who had something on her mind, finally couldn't bear it and whispered, "Mike, the knowledge taught here is too basic. Why don't we go out and look around?"

Mike had the same intention. For him, with an IQ almost at 180, the female lecturer's rote teaching method was nothing short of a waste of time.

This kind of knowledge, which could be remembered after one read, did not require too much review.

"Okay." Mike nodded to the little girl, then turned to Sheldon on the other side and said, "Sheldon, want to go out and look around?"

Sheldon, who was also bored, showed an interested expression after receiving the invitation. But soon, he shook his head again and said, "We made a promise with my dad that he would come here to pick us up later."

Clearly, Sheldon, who always followed the rules, did not want any uncontrollable accidents to occur because of him.

Just as Mike was about to try to persuade him, Paige, who was next to him, seemed to see through Sheldon's thoughts. She said with a hint of mockery, "Forget it, Mike. Don't bother with that good kid who never grows up. Let's go."

In some ways, Paige was a little envious of Sheldon.

In the little girl's heart, she knew that her emotional intelligence and IQ were both higher than his.

However, she also keenly noticed that Sheldon, who was inferior to her in all aspects, possessed a happy family that she didn't have, and also had Mike, such a handsome and smart good friend.

Perhaps Paige herself didn't realize that at this moment, a feeling of jealousy had arisen in her heart.

This was also why she always intentionally or unintentionally targeted Sheldon.

"Now's the time—"

Paige, who had once again teased Sheldon, took advantage of the female lecturer turning to write on the board, grabbed Mike, and ran outside.

The thrill of doing something "bad" made the little girl temporarily forget her worries. As she tiptoed and ran, a faint smile unconsciously appeared on her face.

On Sheldon's side, watching his good friend being led away, Paige's evaluation of him as a "good kid" echoed in his mind.

After a brainstorm, Sheldon firmly got up and, like a warrior heading to the battlefield, chased after Paige and Mike, walking outside.

He wanted to prove that he was not a child, and he also wanted to prove that he was not inferior to Paige.

Outside the lecture hall, Paige released Mike's hand, a faint blush appearing on her face.

Mike, wearing a simple white shirt and with slightly messy hair, exuded a charming sense of laziness amidst his handsomeness.

For a young girl, the destructive power was already severely off the charts.

"Where do you want to go look around?" Paige composed herself and said, "I'm quite familiar with the surroundings."

As mentioned before, Paige's parents had brought her here last year.

"How about we find a quiet place to eat something?" Mike thought for a moment and said.

It was almost lunchtime now, and a quiet place would also be conducive to communication.

Yes, Mike was planning to help the little girl solve her troubles.

"Great, I happen to know a dessert shop. We can go try it," Paige said with a smile.

Just then, Sheldon, with his short legs, caught up.

"Where are you going?" Sheldon asked, breathing heavily.

It was clear that skipping class was causing him a lot of stress.

This was one of Sheldon's rare moments of rebellion.

"We're planning to go to a dessert shop. Want to come along?" Mike asked.

"Is that a good idea? If we go too far, what if dad can't find us later?" Sheldon hesitated.

Before Mike could speak again, Paige glared at Sheldon unhappily and said, "Mike, let's go. Don't mind that tag-along~"

After speaking, the little girl once again pulled Mike and walked out of the museum.

However, as they passed the primitive man exhibition hall, the little girl stopped.

Looking at the scene in the exhibition hall, where a family of primitive people gathered happily around a bonfire, Paige was lost in thought for a moment.

"Wait for me!" Sheldon, not wanting to be left alone, caught up again.

His words also interrupted Paige's thoughts. The little girl again unhappily said, "What are you following for again?"

"I'm not following you," Sheldon explained seriously. "Mike promised dad that he would watch me. So I can't leave his sight."

This explanation was very Sheldon-like and very reasonable.

"Alright, let's go eat quickly. Maybe we can even make it back before the lecture ends," Mike offered a reasonable suggestion, diverting the two little prodigies' attention.

Afterward, the group of three, led by Paige, arrived at a quiet little dessert shop.

The environment inside the shop was very nice.

After the three of them sat down, Mike asked, "What do you want to eat?"

"A cup of freshly squeezed juice and a strawberry cake," Paige said skillfully.

"A cup of milk, and a colorful fruit tart," Sheldon said, looking at the menu and making his choice.

"Is that all?" Mike asked. Seeing the two children nod, he called the waiter, ordered for the two of them, and then ordered a cup of milk and a fruit pizza for himself.

After everything was served, Paige ate the strawberry cake in front of her, hesitated for a long while, and then looked up and asked, "Mike, you said last time you'd be a qualified listener, does that still count?"

"Of course, if you have any troubles, you can always confide in me," Mike replied.

Ignoring Sheldon, who was happily enjoying his dessert on the side, Paige said, "I've noticed that my parents have been arguing more and more frequently recently. Although they intentionally avoid me and my sister, I still know that they are preparing for a divorce..."

The little girl finished describing what she had discovered and finally said, "If it weren't for me, they might not be like this."

Clearly, Paige, with her super high IQ, also realized that she was the fuse for her parents' arguments.

This discovery made her very frustrated.

She even vaguely attributed her unhappiness and her family's discord to her super high IQ.

In Paige's current understanding, she felt that if she were just an ordinary child, her parents might not have so many conflicts because of her, and they wouldn't have reached the point of divorce.

"Have you thought about how to get out of your current predicament?" Mike asked tentatively.

"I thought about going to my grandma's house in the countryside and starting over as an ordinary child," Paige said. "That way, without me at home, my parents shouldn't argue anymore."

From this, it could be seen that Paige was truly very sensible. She planned to hide her "talent" in exchange for family harmony.

However, due to her age, she had not been able to find the root cause of the problem.

Pretending to be an ordinary child also couldn't solve her troubles.

"Escaping doesn't solve problems," Sheldon, who was eating his fruit tart, suddenly said.

Although Sheldon lived very self-centeredly, his interactions with Paige these few times had led him to somewhat initially accept her.

"Then what do you think I should do?" Paige asked angrily. It was clear that being interrupted had made her emotional.

"I don't know either." Sheldon was not affected by Paige's emotions. He thought for a moment and then answered truthfully.

Being from a happy family, it was difficult for him to truly empathize with Paige's troubles.
