Chapter 48 - Chapter 35: The Underground Palace

"Strange, Dio and them haven't moved for a long time."

The group was tracking Dio, who was moving underground, but found that the two of them had been staying in one spot.

"Could it be a trap?"

It's not surprising that Avdol thought this, after all, unusual circumstances often indicate something sinister.

"Even if it's a trap, we have to go. Everyone, be careful."

Although the group was worried it was a trap, none of them intended to retreat. But when they arrived at the location marked by Hermit Purple, they saw a dark cave leading underground. The pitch-black entrance almost seemed to have the words "Please enter the urn" pasted on it.

"It seems Dio had prepared this place long ago."

Joseph looked at the cave from outside. It was clear that this cave was not newly dug; it had been dug for an unknown amount of time. A few people even saw uncleaned metal objects on the surrounding rocks, as if there had once been an iron gate here.

"These marks, were they destroyed by The Cream?"

"What should we do, Mr. Joestar?"

"Hmm…"

Looking at the dark cave in front of him, Joseph pondered for a moment: "Even if we know it's a trap, we can only go in. It seems Dio must have prepared to deal with us during the day. I'll trouble you, Avdol."

Avdol nodded, and Magician's Red appeared beside him.

Clasping his hands together, a six-pointed flame was released from Magician's Red's hand.

"What is this?"

Seeing the others curiously looking at this new ability, Avdol did not hide anything: "This flame is a detector. It will react to the breathing of life, the movement of objects, and the energy of Stands."

"Avdol, can you use a few more?"

Takatsuki asked, looking at the flame slowly moving forward.

"Hmm? The detection range of this detector is fifteen meters, so not too many are needed."

Takatsuki shook his head: "That's not what I mean. Your detector cannot detect The Cream hidden in the air. The cave is so narrow; it only needs to stay on our inevitable path, and we will unknowingly run into it."

Avdol looked at Takatsuki for a while: "In that case."

With a snap of his fingers, the flame detector, which was originally only the size of a chandelier, suddenly grew larger, filling the entire cave passage: "Although this will slow us down a bit, it can cover the entire cave."

After confirming there was no danger, the group followed Avdol's flame detector into the cave.

Surprisingly, there were no traps or ambushes along the way.

After walking for ten minutes, everyone saw some light coming from ahead.

"Finally, the Joestar bloodline has arrived."

Beyond the narrow passage was a spacious hall, or perhaps it could be called a plaza.

This huge underground space was supported by many stone pillars. At the other end of the very center, Dio sat on a luxurious chair, with Vanilla Ice standing behind him like a loyal soldier.

"When I met Jonathan Joestar a hundred years ago, I knew he would be my destined rival, and in the end."

He stretched out his right hand and placed it on his left shoulder: "I was destroyed by him, but I also took his body."

"The Joestar bloodline is like a piece of stinking dog shit blocking my path of destiny, but ultimately, it will still be used by me, Dio!"

"And next, it's you."

At this, Vanilla Ice took two steps forward, knelt on one knee, placed his right hand on his left chest, and bowed his head towards Dio: "Lord Dio, you don't need to act personally. I, Vanilla Ice, will bring you victory. I will deliver the heads of the Joestar group to you."

"Vanilla Ice…"

Dio's deep and magnetic voice softly rang out: "You are a person with true resolve. I believe you will surely bring me victory, but…"

"The Joestar family's destiny is something I, Dio, must face. So, Vanilla Ice, eliminate the other troublesome people for me!"

Vanilla Ice stood up, and The Cream appeared behind him.

"Yes, Lord Dio!"

In the eyes of the others, The Cream swallowed Vanilla Ice in one gulp, then put its foot into its own mouth, then its leg, its body, until it completely swallowed itself, disappearing completely in front of the others.

"Ugh, how disgusting."

"It disappeared!"

As the few people just entered the hall and saw the scene, they immediately reacted when a disappearing section of the ground suddenly appeared and rushed towards them: "No! Dodge quickly!"

Whether intentional or coincidental, as the group dodged to both sides, Joseph and Jotaro were separated on one side, while the others were separated on the other.

"By Lord Dio's command, I've come to take your lives!"

The upper half of The Cream appeared in mid-air, blocking the group's path, while on the other side, Dio appeared opposite Jotaro and Joseph as if teleporting.

"This body comes from Jonathan Joestar a hundred years ago, and now, those who oppose it are also of the Joestar bloodline!"

"Only the Joestar bloodline, I will definitely exterminate them all!"

Dio immediately declared his hostility. Unlike others, for whatever reason, his hatred for the Joestar family was inextinguishable.

"Yare yare! Dio!"

Jotaro hadn't forgotten the purpose of his trip to Egypt: to defeat the monster named Dio in front of him. A hundred years of hatred? An enemy of humanity? Jotaro didn't care about these things, but he knew that if he couldn't kill this monster in front of him, his mother would lose her life!

"Hoho, not only did you not run away, but you're walking towards me, Dio?"

Looking at Jotaro approaching step by step, Dio's mouth curved slightly upwards.

"If I don't get closer, how can I beat you down?"

"Then you need to get a little closer."

Dio also walked towards Jotaro.

Although somewhat uncomfortable, Joseph knew full well that he couldn't directly participate in this battle. He already knew Dio's Stand ability, and compared to it, Joseph simply couldn't fight head-on.

But he still had his own methods to provide cover from the side.

Dio, at this moment, also did not pay him any mind, but walked step by step towards Jotaro.

"Ora!"

Star Platinum suddenly appeared and punched Dio's head. At the same time, The World blocked in front of it, kicking its left leg, interrupting its attack.

Jotaro stumbled, seeing his pant leg torn and some redness and swelling on his leg.

"Too slow, too slow. The World is the strongest Stand, its power and speed both surpass your Star Platinum."

He glanced at his pant leg, which was damaged from the recent attack.

"Indeed, it's a Stand of the same type as my Star Platinum. Although its range of activity isn't large, its movements are powerful and precise."

Looking at The World, which had gained an advantage in their first clash, Dio crossed his arms: "I'll try to see how much stronger The World's power is than your Star Platinum, but I already know without trying."

"Your so-called 'trying' means gently caressing your opponent without even leaving a scratch?"

He looked at his torn school uniform pant leg: "It's just a shame about these 20,000 yen pants."

"Hmph, why are the Joestar family always so unwilling to admit defeat?"

He spread his hands as if helpless: "Then I'll accept your boring provocation and play with you a bit more."

The World's figure emerged from Dio's body, punching towards Star Platinum. After a few exchanges between the two power-type Stands, their speed became faster and faster.

"Are we competing in rapid punches?"

The punching winds generated by the two Stands continuously exchanging blows raised a huge storm in this originally windless underground space.

"Wow!!! Is Star Platinum's speed and power really that exaggerated?"

The other side, after a brief skirmish with The Cream, was also attracted by the battle on the other side.

This was Kiana's first time seeing Star Platinum fighting at full power, and on the other side was a Stand that was its equal.

Her previous thought that Stands were only powerful due to their unique characteristics and strange abilities was completely overturned.

"Kiana! Watch out!"
