Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Adventurer Party

Several lizard monster corpses lay beside the marsh.

There were many burn marks on the surfaces of the corpses.

A great harvest!

Tsukasa wiped away her sweat.

As her basic abilities improved...

...the power of her magic seemed to increase as well.

By now, the magic she released could no longer be judged by numbers—that is, its power could no longer be determined based on the magic damage obtained through Appraisal. The proof was that almost all her magic resulted in a one-hit kill.

Appraisal could only provide the base damage of that one magic of hers. However, as her level rose and her basic abilities increased, her own attributes were enough to boost the power of the skill beyond its base.

After all, this was only natural.

If there really were a system that could represent all of a person's abilities in numerical values, it would indeed be convenient, but also terrifying.

Because a system must have an author. Having your every detail held by the system meant you were under that one author's control from start to finish. that one author might even understand your details better than you did yourself.

Just thinking about such things sent a chill through her heart.

Of course, this didn't mean the current system wasn't scary.

How could a system that enveloped the entire world not be terrifying? It would be one thing if she had been born into this world knowing nothing, but she was a Transmigrator who had reincarnated with memories of two past lives. Naturally, she couldn't be as unquestioning of the system as the native residents. It was just that, with no other choice, she pretended not to care.

After all, no matter what she thought, she couldn't peer into the system's secrets, let alone meet its author. She was just a weakling; thinking too much about it brought her no benefit, and she couldn't give up the convenience the system provided.

"But the difficulty of leveling up is getting higher and higher. To deal with monsters of similar strength, I still need five kills to level up. It's getting late, and I haven't explored the forest at night yet. It's better not to take risks at a time like this. I just hope the trouble that big cat ran into isn't so easily resolved." Seeing the colors of the sunset, Si didn't continue wandering this area but turned back toward the base she had built.

The more times like this, the more one must not lose focus.

Her current state wasn't great either.

Most of her SP was consumed.

Only a quarter of her mana remained.

Although she had learned a skill to increase recovery speed...

...the skill's level wasn't high.

And after successive battles...

...her mind was indeed beginning to feel fatigued.

Si returned to the base... Meanwhile, inside the White-Eyed Tiger's nest.

A well-trained Adventurer team was collecting materials.

In their team...

...there were Heavy Shield Warriors, Swordsmen, Mages, and Thieves.

This was an elite team.

The average level of the members was around Lv40.

One member's basic attribute values were even over 5000.

Even the overlord of this forest was just a fragile, low-level monster before them.

"This much should be enough."

The Thief collected the White-Eyed Tiger meat.

As for materials like the tiger hide...

...since they weren't rare...

...he didn't collect them.

After all, they couldn't carry that many things.

While the White-Eyed Tiger's hide had some value, it wasn't worth making space for, so he regretfully gave it up.

In contrast...

...things like tiger meat and tiger penis were their mission objectives.

"We've completed another request."

The Mage said excitedly.

"Since our Hero Squad took action, this level of success is only natural."

The Heavy Shield Warrior remarked that it was too easy.

After all, the difficulty of this request lay in finding the target and the quantity of materials needed. However, they had an acquaintance nearby to lead the way, and they had charged straight into the monsters' nest to wipe them out in one fell swoop. With their strength, it would be a major problem if they couldn't achieve at least this much.

"With this, the Guild's request is finished. It's time for us to leave."

The middle-aged Swordsman said with a smile.

The handsome young man in front gently held the scarf around his neck and nodded, saying, "Yes, as per the Guild's requirements, we have indeed cleared the monsters near the Dungeon. This way, for a while, the monsters around here shouldn't attack Adventurers heading to the Dungeon."

The Heavy Shield Warrior shook his head at this.

"Although I feel like this isn't something we should be doing, overall, it's a good deed. And with your personality, you couldn't have ignored it anyway."

They were the Hero Squad.

This wasn't just a simple team name.

Because there was indeed a true Hero among them.

Normally, such trivial tasks wouldn't fall to them.

But because an S-rank monster, Nightmare, had appeared in the Dungeon, Adventurers were unwilling to enter this forest. Their initial mission in coming here was to subjugate that one S-rank monster.

So, after hearing that there had been an unusual number of monsters in the area recently, they took on this monster-clearing task because the Hero couldn't just stand by and watch.

Furthermore, the Hero Squad's journey around the world required funds. Even though none of them lacked money personally, they preferred not to ask their families for money if they could earn it themselves, so they took on many bounty requests at the Adventurers Guild.

Helping people while earning money.

One could say it was killing two birds with one stone.

After more than a week of hard work...

...they had perfectly completed the task.

Next was to head to the Dungeon to conquer the S-rank monster... The injured White-Eyed Tiger escaped from the hands of those humans.

If it hadn't been its turn to go out hunting today, perhaps it would have been killed by those terrifying humans, just like its cubs.

The strength of those humans was simply too great.

With just a single strike, that Swordsman had managed to heavily wound it.

It was precisely because it recognized the enemy's strength and knew it could never rescue its cubs from those people that it chose to flee.

Since it was returning to the nest from outside...

...it didn't face much obstruction when escaping.

It successfully got away.

It now needed to eat to recover.

The White-Eyed Tiger possessed the skill.

This skill could make it stronger and simultaneously heal its injuries.

Although it wasn't as overpowered as Si's level-up full-recovery cheat...

...in a sense...

...Feeding was one of the most basic and powerful skills among monsters.
