Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: The Teacher's Invitation

The maid pushed open the villa's door and stood silently to the side.

They were completely shrouded in deep black cloth, wearing long-skirted maid outfits similar to priest vestments. They also wore pale masks on their faces. Their eyeballs could not be seen through the masks; only a bottomless blackness was visible in the holes, looking incredibly eerie.

Okazaki Kanami felt these figures were just like people from a horror movie, as if they might transform into vengeful spirits and rip off her head at any moment. Although she had considerable confidence in her magic, seeing such a bizarre outfit was still a bit terrifying.

"Then, I'll be intruding..." Giving a polite greeting to the silent interior of the villa, she carefully stepped inside. At that moment, the sound of the door closing behind her startled her: "Aaaaaah!" For that instant, she thought she had become the protagonist of a horror film, locked inside this grudge-filled haunted house as a target for a malevolent ghost.

She clutched her chest and backed up to the door, grabbing the handle and pulling it open. The moment the door opened, she saw that white mask and was startled by the maid standing outside. The maid just quietly watched her scream, and then she realized she was scaring herself. She immediately apologized to the other party, then hurriedly retreated back into the villa and closed the door.

"Aaaah, that was so embarrassing."

Okazaki Kanami's small face was now a shy shade of pink. If her students found out about what just happened, her dignity as a teacher would be gone. She wondered if Classmate Tsukasa would find out about this from those maids? Ah, she really wanted to kill her past self. But she couldn't be blamed for making a fuss, right? After all, that outfit was indeed very scary, completely in the dark style of a horror movie.

It was just too strange.

Why design perfectly good maid uniforms like that? This wasn't just being conservative; it was hair-raising.

Was Classmate Tsukasa's personality always this gloomy?

Okazaki Kanami thought of the Yatsuhata Tsukasa from her previous life—that beautiful girl with an enviable body proportion. Despite having a perfect model-like figure and being very pretty, her personality was extremely somber. She had learned through inquiries that Tsukasa had apparently suffered from school bullying in middle school; she was supposed to have been a confident, cheerful, and high-achieving good child.

Tsukasa, who was posing in the living room, looked at the teacher who wasn't moving at the door. She impatiently tapped the armrest of her chair with her finger, thinking dissatisfactorily: "So slow. Teacher, what exactly are you here for?"

That scream just now.

Sensei surely didn't mistake her place for a haunted house, did she? Although in a sense, Shadow Demons were indeed similar to ghosts or spirits, Sensei, you are at least an expert with attribute values over a thousand.

After a while,

The teacher finally made up her mind to move forward.

Accompanied by the moment the teacher stepped into the living room, Tsukasa donned her illusionary skin and spoke to the 'guest' in that seductive voice: "Welcome to my villa, Okazaki Kanami~ Sensei, it's been a long time."

Okazaki Kanami looked over at the sound and saw, in the center of the living room on a rose-red chair, an adult woman in a black formal dress observing her. It was a very beautiful woman with a full figure and delicate features. She had heterochromatic eyes and silky, smooth, lustrous black hair. She looked like a witch from a painting, possessing a charm that one could not forget after a single glance, like a rose full of poison.

Perfect, peerless, mysterious, dangerous—these impressions could be seen at a glance, naturally merging into one. The girl's eyes couldn't help but widen, her mouth slightly agape, seemingly not expecting this development, momentarily stunned. she hadn't expected to see such a scene. After all, although the Classmate Yatsuhata Tsukasa in her memory was very pretty, she wasn't beautiful to this extent that could be called demonic.

Moreover, she felt quite discouraged now. In front of her student,

She herself looked more like a student instead. Because she was of the Elf Race, and elves lived longer than humans, their development was also much slower. Additionally, she was only ten years old in this life, still a child. In front of the current Classmate Tsukasa, not a shred of her dignity as a teacher remained.

"Are you Classmate Yatsuhata?"

Okazaki Kanami asked in Japanese.

"It's me."

Tsukasa replied in Japanese as well.

Okazaki Kanami felt something was slightly off.

She hesitated for a moment.

At this time, Tsukasa took the initiative to ask: "Sensei, how did you know I was here? Have you seen other Reincarnators?"

"Does that mean you've seen other Reincarnators too, Classmate Yatsuhata?" Okazaki Kanami's tone sounded somewhat excited.

"In other words, Sensei, you know the whereabouts of other Reincarnators." Tsukasa said with an air of absolute certainty.

"Eh?" Okazaki Kanami realized belatedly.

Had she just been baited into giving information by Classmate Yatsuhata? But to be able to guess that much based on just those two lines of dialogue—wasn't that a bit too exaggerated? Did Classmate Yatsuhata have a talent for being a detective? However, there was nothing to hide about this matter, so she nodded to indicate yes.

Tsukasa continued to ask: "Sensei, you possess some kind of ability that allows you to know information about other Reincarnators, don't you?"

"You even guessed that? Amazing."

Okazaki Kanami completely failed to notice the emotion in Tsukasa's eyes. After confirming that she indeed possessed such an ability, Tsukasa's gaze became somewhat dangerous, because this ability was a nuisance to her.

Tsukasa said, "It's not hard to guess. I've never exposed myself, and I even use a codename like Nightingale for the outside world. Furthermore, the way I look now is different from my previous life; even you, Sensei, couldn't have recognized me. That's why I determined you possess a related skill."

Okazaki Kanami still thought it was very impressive.

"So, Sensei, is there something you've come to see me for?" Tsukasa did not hide her unwelcoming sentiment.

Okazaki Kanami said, "Classmate Yatsuhata, for some reasons I can't explain, I would like to ask you to come with me to the Fairy Village. There are other classmates there. Can you trust Sensei?"

Tsukasa frowned and said without hesitation, "I'm sorry, but I cannot trust you. The Fairy Village is the territory of the Elf Race, right? As far as I know, the relationship between elves and humans in this world isn't very good."

Exactly.

Although she, knowing the truth, was aware that these elves were products of genetic engineering—just like the demons, they were once part of the Human Race and were among the sinners—not many people in this world knew the truth. These elves already truly considered themselves to be real elves. However, they hadn't inherited many of the elves' virtues; instead, they had fully inherited flaws like arrogance and pride. They looked down on humans from the bottom of their hearts.

A human going to an elven settlement...

No matter how you look at it, this is just asking for trouble.
