Chapter 25 - Chapter 25 : Hangover and Past

Aaaahh, this hangover!

I regret drinking, but you can't blame me, right?

Heartbroken as hell—Kiefer ignoring me, Section E ghosting, and Aries, my own brother, pissed for reasons I can't even guess.

I couldn't stand it.

It's 2 AM, and the headache's already pounding. Literally 2 AM! It's like, 'Hangover on duty, 24/7'.

Ugh, God, why me?

I have No water for my pills.

God really hates me. Fuck!

I dragged myself downstairs, grabbed a bottled water from the kitchen, and shuffled back.

As I neared my room, Aries's light spilled into the hall. Voices—low, tense. Headache be damned, curiosity dragged me closer. Not eavesdropping, promise. Hehe.

"Talk to him... He's still your father," Aunt Gema's voice, soft but firm.

"No!" The word exploded from him, raw and jagged.

"He's not my dad! Your husband is. I won't. Last time we met, what did he do? He even dragged Jay-jay into it, which led to—", He choked it off, throat burning.

The memory clawed up unbidden.

I knew it: the incident, four years back. I don't remember much—blurry edges. And I don't wanna sharpen. I don't wanna remember them.

The door clicked shut, sealing me back into the dim sanctuary of my room. I swallowed the pills with a desperate, lukewarm gulp of water.

I slumped against the windowsill, the cigarette smoke curling up like ghosts from my past.

Four years ago. His birthday. Joy turned to terror when that man—his bio dad, monster—snatched him from the party. I was there, the only witness. So I get nabbed too.

I woke in pitch black: Dark warehouse. Rusted bars. Puddles stinking of rot. So dark.

When they—His father, and gang—came for us, I didn't hesitate.

Fists flying, I smashed into them—knees to guts, elbows cracking jaws. Blood sprayed; theirs, mostly.

Aries fought too, tears streaming, yelling for Mom, for anyone.

Then the blow came. A pipe to my skull, hot pain exploding. Blood poured down my face, vision blurred. Voices runned in my head.

The last thing I saw was Aries—struggling against his father, crying for help.

Then everything went dark.

The next thing I knew, I woke up in the hospital, bandages everywhere.

From then, Aries wouldn't even look at me. Stopped talking altogether. No one knows why.

That changed us. Something happened I blacked out on—why he hates me.

Just a few months later, it happened again. And this time, it affected more.
