Chapter 549 - Chapter 549: Wrapping Up

Chapter 549: Wrapping Up

Kian rubbed his face. He had a feeling the Emperor had left him something.

He opened his panel and checked his stats. His Focus had gone from 120 to 140, up 20 points.

The Emperor's Blessing Lv.2 — Effect: Focus +30, Divine Purging Lv.2.

Divine Purging Lv.2: Removes 2 points of Corruption per second.

Stigmata: Your wish has been granted. The Emperor has left a stigma upon you. Psykers, saints of the Ecclesiarchy, Astartes Chaplains, and the Emperor's Chosen can see the stigma the Emperor has left on you. It may improve your standing with them.

Kian laughed out loud. He'd been right. You make your own clout. If he hadn't mouthed off a bit, the Emperor would've just dusted himself off and left.

But look at that. On his way out, he'd still left Kian a little souvenir.

In a great mood, Kian turned back to the Book of Truth in front of him.

He picked up the book and examined it closely. There was no trace of evil psychic disturbance on it anymore. Instead, it gave off a feeling of holiness.

Kian opened the Scavenge-Strike-Extract System to check the book's entry, and let out a whistle.

Name: The Book of Truth.

Value: Priceless.

Description: A portion of the Chaos God Tzeentch's core power, scattered across the universe, recovered by his Scribes and recorded as the Book of Truth.

The 9,999 psychic spells contained in this book have been purified and are safe to use.

Kian kept licking his lips. This thing was incredible. It was a big gold drop!

He'd always felt his psychic powers were kind of one-note: a bit of gravity control, lightning bolts, that sort of thing. No style at all.

But now he had nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine spells to fill the gaps in his psychic toolkit.

"Now let's see what kind of amazing spells we've got here. Time for a proper tasting~"

He opened the book and started reading right there.

The very first spell he flipped to left Kian staring.

Psychic Transfiguration: Release a Warp spell through special pathways from every pore of your body, creating a unique mirage effect.

Let yourself and others see whatever shape you want them to see!

Kian read through the spell quickly, then sat down cross-legged and started channelling.

A few minutes later, psychic power seeped out through his pores, and his body began to change.

When the change was complete, Kian had become a genderbent version of himself.

"Heyyy hey hey!! Old Kian's gonna be not only the manliest of men, but the womanliest of women too!!"

Kian had turned into the Protein Queen from the old textbooks, ripped from head to toe, muscles so cut you could see the striations. The few feminine features left on his face were torn to shreds by his Mr. Olympia stage smile!

He found a mirror and struck a few Olympia poses, very pleased with the result.

Then he sat down cross-legged again and chanted. Before long, the mirage-like illusion around him rippled, and he changed from a Protein Queen into a Gloriana-class battleship!

"Whoa! Yeah, this is the stuff!"

And then a humanoid Gloriana-class battleship began striking all kinds of Olympia poses in front of the mirror.

Partway through, Kian suddenly remembered that his Sword-class escort had probably been towed to the Forge World for repairs by now. With everything on this planet wrapped up, wasn't it about time he went back to check on it?

Kian tucked the Book of Truth under his arm and started tying up loose ends.

He left the castle keep and first went to find Hei's wife and his son Tarō, and had them join up with the old monk and Yamashita-maru.

The old monk said he wanted to bring his monks and go with Kian too, to spread the Emperor's glory across the universe and learn the true doctrine of the Imperium.

Kian could already see it coming: from now on, every chaplain on his warships would be a bald old monk.

And every Primarch statue on his ships would be a wrathful guardian king.

Well, he'd already broken this world beyond recognition, so whatever. He agreed to let the old monk come along.

After that, Kian planned to go up Snowflake Mountain and find the Three-Eyed Sorcerer's people, and have them use their psychic arts to contact Inquisitor Trasolh's fleet.

Every member of the Three-Eyed Sorcerer's house had three eyes. They were warship Navigators.

But the house had a small branch whose members were all blind in both eyes. They were actually Astropaths.

Astropaths were human psychic telephones. They could make psychic calls across absolutely ridiculous distances.

The most ridiculous case of all was when the Primarch Magnus, from the far side of the galaxy, made a psychic call to the Emperor on Terra.

At the time, the Emperor was busy fixing the sewer pipe under his toilet. That phone call messed everything up. The Emperor's sewer pipe burst, and all the maggots and worms and leeches in the sewer came crawling out!

With no other choice, and the sewer burst, the Emperor had to sit on the Golden Toilet himself and hold all that filth down in the sewer with his imperial butt.

A psychic phone call was basically running your phone line through the Warp. A Chaos God could easily tap your line and feed the other end false messages.

Or blast a massive surge of energy down the line and blow up the phone on the other end!

The problem was, humanity had no choice but to rely on this dangerous way of communicating.

Without it, humanity's enormous, bloated Imperium would probably just fall apart.

In any case, the Three-Eyed Sorcerer's house had a group of psykers descended from Astropaths who'd kept the ability to make psychic calls.

Kian planned to find these Astropaths and have them place a psychic call to Inquisitor Trasolh to bring him over.

But before he left the temple, Kian had the old monk run an errand for him.

He asked the old monk:

"Your planet grows tea, right?"

The old monk nodded.

"Yes. We have plenty of tea plantations here."

Kian waved a hand.

"Spend every coin your temple has on high-quality tea seed stock. I'm taking it with me!"

At heart he was a businessman. He was still working under Inquisitor Trasolh for now, but a real man couldn't stay under someone else's thumb forever!

He was going to start laying the groundwork for his commercial empire right now!

So far, old Kian had two products he knew would sell well. One was walkers, from the STC template he'd copied on the Forge World.

The other was power swords, from the STC template the old monk had given him.

But as a Rogue Trader, he couldn't just sell weapons. He needed some other hot commodity.

And tea was absolutely! Absolutely!! ABSOLUTELY!!! a hot commodity!

Seriously, if anyone ever ends up transmigrated into Warhammer 40K with a chance to be a merchant and has no idea what to sell, you can't go wrong with tea!

Because Warhammer 40K is made by Games Workshop, and Games Workshop is a British company, and the Brits love their tea!

So if the people who created this universe all love tea, do you really think the people living in it don't?

By now Kian had been to a lot of worlds and eaten at a lot of important people's tables.

On the Planetary Governors' tables, the most common drink was wine, and the second most common was black tea.

Back then Kian hadn't noticed that detail at all. He didn't like tea himself, so it hadn't occurred to him.

But after he came to this planet, he noticed that even poor families would bring out tea to serve their guests.

That made him realize this world had tea plants.

And once he thought of tea plants, he started thinking about business, and there was no stopping him.
