Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 — Smoke, Glass, and Predators

Rick's invitation came without explanation.

Just a message, brief and direct.

8 PM. My club. You need to slack off before you burn the city down.

Then another message came instantly ' Manadatory'.

Cassian read it once, then locked his phone. He decided to go there to change the mood for once a while. Elena arranged it and cassian gave her early off. She went happily. These days were truly felt like walking over the edge.

By the time he arrived, night had already swallowed the skyline. Rick's club rose from the street like a crown of glass and steel, lights pulsing in slow rhythm, guarded entrances filtering only the elite. This wasn't a place for chaos. It was a place where power relaxed — briefly.

Cassian stepped out of his car.

The bouncers straightened instantly.

"Master Drakov."

He nodded once and entered.

Inside, the club breathed luxury.

Deep bass vibrated through the floor, controlled and elegant rather than wild. Crystal lights refracted into soft gold and blue hues. Alphas, omegas, and betas mingled in carefully curated harmony. Private booths lined the upper level, glass walls tinted just enough for privacy.

Rick had reserved the central VIP table obviously because it's his own club.

Cassian spotted them immediately.

Rick Carlen sat sprawled casually, one arm draped over the back of the seat, grin sharp as ever. Beside him was Mason Ristal, relaxed but observant, eyes always measuring. Mason leaned forward slightly, posture sharp, calculating even in leisure. Wren Londall sat with composed elegance, gaze cool, unreadable. All of them were top-class alphas.

And between them, unmistakable even without pheromones—

Avery Kinlton.

A top-class omega.

Not delicate. Not submissive.

Supreme.

Avery sat with one leg crossed over the other, expression bored, aura suffocatingly calm. When Avery Kinlton existed in a space, others adjusted without realizing why.

They were the close friends of cassian from the high school. They saw each other's sides from way back then. Rick is cassian's childhood friend. All are from similar family backgrounds.

And they were waiting for him.

Rick spotted Cassian first and lifted his glass. "About time."

They waved him over.

Cassian joined them, shrugging off his coat and taking the seat offered without ceremony.

"Busy burning the world again?" Rick asked.

Cassian poured himself a drink. "Someone has to keep it in order."

Mason smirked. "You look like you haven't slept."

Wren glanced at him. "You don't come here unless something's irritating you."

Cassian took a slow sip, eyes sweeping the club. "I'm fine."

Avery raised a brow. "That's a lie."

Rick laughed. "See? Even the almighty Avery knows."

Cassian huffed faintly but didn't argue.

The conversation flowed easily — business updates, subtle political shifts, a few jabs at rival companies. Mason mentioned a hostile takeover. Wren spoke about tightening supply chains. Rick complained about renovations.

Then the teasing started.

"So," Mason drawled casually, "is it true you're hunting an omega?"

Cassian's eyes flicked to him then to Rick. Rick shrugged "how could I concealed that from their eyes. I'm just a simple man bro"

Avery " so you wanted to hide this from us huh?"

Rick " they literally kidnapped me from my house my wife and children were scared by them".

Wren elegantly said " it was not a big deal and we had already talked with sister in law about that earlier".

Rick shocked " so she knew already yet acted that way"

Avery laughed beautifully " as expected of my sister in law".

Mason leaned back. "I heard something interesting too."

Wren's gaze sharpened. "Careful."

Before Cassian could respond, another voice cut in — loud, confident, deliberately intrusive.

"Well, well," the alpha said, stepping closer. "Long time no see, Cassian. How are you?"

Cassian turned slowly.

Jesper Rollett.

Tall, sharp-featured, dressed expensively but without taste. His smile was too wide, too eager. One-sided rivalry clung to him like cheap cologne.

"I heard," Jesper continued, "you were looking for an omega. Did you find him , should I help you?"

The table went still.

Rick's grin vanished.

Mason's eyes narrowed slightly.

Wren straightened, already displeased.

Avery yawned.

Jesper's group mate — another alpha — leaned in, curious. "Which omega?"

Jesper laughed. "Don't you know? The one who insulted Cassian at Rick's banquet."

Another one of jesper lackey spoke " oh I was there it was hilarious hahaha"

Mason scoffed. "A rat trying to bite a lion."

Jesper's smile tightened.

Wren opened his mouth, but Cassian spoke first.

"No," Cassian said calmly, setting his glass down. "But I got yoursremeber the black head one."

The words landed like a blade.

Jesper's blood ran cold.

"H-huh?" Jesper coughed awkwardly. "What are you talking about? I don't know anyone."

Before Cassian could reply, Avery sighed.

"It's too loud here," Avery said softly. "And it smells unpleasant."

Avery looked at Jesper and his companions.

"Can someone take the garbage out?"

Silence.

Absolute.

When Avery Kinlton spoke, rooms obeyed.

Jesper's face flushed — anger, humiliation, fear all twisting together. He clenched his jaw, then laughed too loudly. He can't say anything to Avery control control.

"Whatever," he muttered. "Let's go."

He turned sharply and left with his group.

As they moved away, whispers followed.

"So he's the one…"

"He really tempered Cassian's wine?"

"Pity him…"

"Suicidal."

" He's done now let's see his dooms day" people weren't even lowering his face anymore.

Jesper's hands clenched into fists.

"You'll pay one day, Cassian. I swear." Then left with his lackeys. He was furious and was dead serious on his revenge, that he ignored the phone calls that made him regret in future. They went to another club and drink to fullest. When morning came for him it was end truly end of his career. His company was snatched by cassian drakov got allegations of illegal drug dealing which was true but not on the scale that were shown by media. His property got sealed. He went for hiding. He cursed cassian whole the way and made his mind to make cassian regret who he laid his hands on. Little did he know that having his life unscathed his gift from cassian because because of his stupid plan he got to meet that boy that blonde omega with crystal clear blue ocean eyes.
