Chapter 2 - Familiar Chaotic Scene

Fu Ye never thought that studying could be so… easy and natural.

It was as if he had cleared the fog in his mind and achieved enlightenment.

Everything the teacher said seemed to hold some profound meaning in his eyes and his mind would instantly infer countless ideas and deduce the flow of cause and effect.

It was as if his mind had a network of knowledge that was constantly updating itself with new understanding with each experience.

This feeling of flow was so intoxicating that he could not get enough of it.

What was even more absurd was that what he learnt was not just the content the teacher was teaching.

Everything in his range of perception seemed to turn into a learning point that he could extract value.

For instance, he somehow noticed the posture, position, intonation, expression of the teacher and how they each contributed to the learning and teaching experience of the students.

It was like he was learning his course work, communication skills, and teaching skills of the teachers together with the learning practices and behaviors of his fellow students.

All this knowledge seemed overwhelming, but in fact, Fu Ye felt like he was not doing enough.

His learning seemed to have become a subconscious and passive activity making him feel like he was idling.

He had to start simulating various ways the teacher could have explained better, or maybe used a more fitting example, made a joke, and various other ways that Fu Ye would have never thought of before.

By the time class ended, Fu Ye felt like he had mastered the art of teaching.

Yes, the art of teaching.

He was not so arrogant as to think he had mastered the content, but he was sure he could do a better job at delivery than what he had seen in all his years of learning.

This was the power of the talent "Genius Mind" and the ability "Absolute Learning".

And Fu Ye was sure that it was only more powerful and not less.

After joking around with Nana and the others a bit, Fu Ye said his goodbyes and made his way to his parttime job.

Fu Ye would not do something like quitting abruptly just because he had money.

I mean, Boss Wang and Aunt Liu were kind to him when he was struggling and he would not do something so irresponsible now.

At the very least, he needed to make sure that they found a reliable replacement before he left.

Boss Wang's place was… complicated.

The front was an open stall for selling all kinds of street food. He usually hangs out here with some rough-looking brothers from his past.

Don't look at his serious face, Boss Wang was the most unserious person Fu Ye knew. He had also influenced some of his views, and Fu Ye felt like life was much more enjoyable after following them.

Most stalls here belonged to his brothers who had suffered one setback after another.

Life in Magic City can be hard; if Boss Wang does not provide them with this place, who knows what desperate measures they'd be taking.

Once, he asked what Boss Wang gained from helping others, only to find out that he actually lost money most of the time.

Some brothers he helped even turned against him when he least expected it.

The back was a restaurant run by Aunt Liu.

She was a beautiful auntie with a noble air. Boss Wang always joked that he cheated her from a noble family, but Fu Ye could see the love in her eyes when she thought nobody was looking.

That said, she had a sharper tongue than Nana. Fu Ye dared mess with Boss Wang, but he absolutely would never mess with Aunt Liu.

"Hey Xiao Fu, you're late. Hurry up and help your aunt before she get into a bad mood again."

Fu Ye had not even arrived when Boss Wang's voice boomed across the street.

"Old man, you shout so loudly, aren't you afraid of being arrested for disrupting the public? Why are you drinking in the middle of the day?"

Fu Ye looked at the mess around and felt sorry for the business.

These guys always scare away little girls and only those who are familiar dare approach.

"Don't nag. Your sister Miaomiao just returned. She got a promotion at work and we have to celebrate."

"Oh, Lan Miaomiao is back? She's been gone for a while now."

Fu Ye felt a little self conscious.

Lan Miaomiao is Boss Wang and Aunt Liu's daughter. So beautiful that Fu Ye almost tripped when he first saw her.

But what made it unbearable was the teasing.

She would wear little clothes around the house and treat Fu Ye like a little brother. Always teasing but never doing anything.

And Fu Ye was also very restrained about this.

He dared look, he dared touch, but he dared not fall for her.

She was bold and experience. An old driver who promises but never delivers. Fu Ye thought that were it not for his experience of two lives, he would have fallen so hopelessly and turned into a dog by her.

But this kind of girl is also the most complicated. She might seem so open and bold, but once you fall, she loses interest.

Fu Ye thought a lot but his footsteps were not slow at all.

He made his way to the breakroom and came out shortly after, ready to work.

His job was to help out. No specific post. Except for cooking, he could do everything in the restaurant including serving, prepping, and even manning the register.

It could be seen how much Aunt Liu trusted him. Even Boss Wang dared not approach the register.

"Aunt Liu, Sister Miaomiao, am back."

"Oh, Xiao Fu, come help with the ingredients. My wrist is sore from cutting."

"Hey mom, let Brother Fu Ye hug me first. I haven't seen him and miss him very much."

"You girl who can't find a husband. Don't drool over young grass."

"…"

Yes, this familiar chaotic scene. Fu Ye felt like he might not be able to resign.
