Chapter 4 - BETWEEN DANGER AND DESIRE

Hello butterflies...

I hope you are all very well...

AUTHOR POV

The priest said " The wedding rituals are complete. From this moment on, you are husband and wife."

Tanish's jaw tightened, anger flashing in his eyes & said coldly " Mai ye shadi nhi mnta."

(I do not accept this marriage)

Pritisha turned slowly.

A dangerous smile curved her lips—slow and deliberate. She stepped closer, her bangles clinking softly, each sound echoing her control. Her eyes shone with quiet confidence.

"Ohh, Prananath.. ab mnna to pde ga ab aapko , koi option nhi h apke paas" she said dramatically.

(Accepting or not accepting is no longer your choice.)

She leaned in just enough for him to feel her presence.

"From today… you are mine."

(A/N — How did this marriage happen? Let's go to flashbacks.)

Flashback

She spoke softly, almost gently,

but her words carried more weight than bullets.

She was kind to good people,

but the worst nightmare for the bad ones.

People often mistook her calm silence for weakness —

they never made that mistake twice.

The entire Italian underworld feared her.

One word from her lips was enough to make even the strongest men tremble.

She didn't rule with chaos or cruelty.

She ruled with patience, strategy, and perfect timing.

In the mafia world, she didn't protect criminals ,she punished them.

Bad people never escaped her justice.

Every deal was calculated.

Every betrayal ended quietly.

She lived for only one man — Tanish Oberoi,

the powerful CEO of Italy.

a man whose world ran on his own terms.

No one dared to stand against him.

Women turned wherever he went,

and winning his favor was not something just anyone could achieve.

If he wanted something, he claimed it — it was his rule.

The world feared him,

because power followed his will.

He had no idea that someone loved him this deeply.

That for him, she could take a life…

or give her own without hesitation.

Soft-spoken. Calm. Deadly.

She wasn't just a mafia queen —

She was devoted to danger.

"How many times did I warn you to stay away from my Nish?"

Her voice was calm, but every word dripped poison.

"But no… you chose enmity with him. And remember one thing—being his enemy means being my enemy."

She took a slow step forward.

"I was watching you from the very beginning. Even after understanding everything, you didn't stop. I gave you a last warning… but you ignored it."

The man collapsed to his knees, fear written all over his face.

"Please… leave me," he cried. "I swear I won't do anything again."

Pritisha raised her gun and pressed it between his forehead. Her hand didn't tremble. Her eyes held no emotion.

"How can I leave you?" she asked softly.

"Because of you… he's lying in a hospital bed."

Bang.

The sound echoed through the dark room.

She didn't even blink.

Turning away, she spoke to her bodyguard as if she were giving an everyday order.

"Cut him into pieces and feed them to my baby… Piku (Tiger)."

He obeyed without hesitation.

Sheru devoured what was left.

After some time, she spoke again.

"Did you do what I told you?"

"Yes, ma'am. The camera has been installed."

"Then what are you waiting for?" she said coldly.

"Turn it on. I want to see. And after that… leave."

The screen lit up.

He left.

Now alone, Pritisha moved closer, her voice changing.

"Nish… you're fine. I know you are."

Her voice softened, but her eyes filled with tears.

"Wake up. See what happened to him…"

A faint smile curved her lips.

"I cut him piece by piece."

A tear slipped from her eye, yet her smile didn't fade.

"Are you happy now?"

She placed her hand over her heart.

"From today onwards, anyone who even thinks of hurting you… will have to face me first."

She kept talking to him—

as if he could hear her.

In the hospital…

Aayush stood in the room, his anger barely controlled.

"Even after so much security," he snapped, looking at all the bodyguards,

"How did my brother get shot?"

All the bodyguards stood silently, heads lowered, unable to answer.

Just then, Tanish slowly opened his eyes.

Aayush immediately rushed to him.

"Bhai… are you okay?"

Tanish took a slow breath.

"Yes… I'm fine."

Aayush clenched his jaw.

"Rest now. Whoever did this will not escape."

He turned sharply to the bodyguards.

"Find out who is behind all this."

At that moment, another bodyguard entered the room hurriedly.

"Sir… the man who shot Tanish sir has been killed."

Tanish's eyes darkened.

"Killed? By whom?"

"Sir, we don't know who killed him," the bodyguard replied.

"But that man had been following you for many days. He was one of your enemy's men."

Tanish's expression hardened.

"Find out who killed that man," he ordered.

"I want answers."

"Yes, sir," the bodyguard said.

"We'll know very soon."

Aayush placed a reassuring hand on Tanish's shoulder.

"Bhai, you rest. We'll handle everything."

Tanish looked at him.

"When will I be discharged?"

"I'll check with the doctor," Aayush replied.

"You just rest."

Aayush then turned to all the bodyguards.

"You all stay outside the room," he commanded.

"24 hours. Keep an eye on everything."

"Yes, sir," all the bodyguards replied together.

Aayush walked towards the doctor's cabin, leaving the room guarded heavily.

The danger wasn't over yet.

In India…

Mishka was the sharpest criminal lawyer in the city, living for the truth.

Always in a black coat, with a firm voice and a mind that stayed one step ahead of the judge.

Outside the courtroom, she was bubbly, warm, and full of life.

But inside the courtroom, her tone turned powerful and unshakable. she had already won many major cases.

She had sent many criminals to jail — but this time, the case was different.

She didn't just win cases — she broke them apart.

"Did you find out everything I asked you to?" Mishka asked firmly.

Her assistant Arpita nodded.

"Yes, ma'am. We have all the proof. Now no one can stop us from winning this case."

Mishka extended her hand.

"Show me the evidence."

She went through the files carefully, her expression slowly turning serious.

"All the details clearly show that this wasn't done by someone from India," she said thoughtfully.

"Someone from outside the country is using these innocent people."

She looked up sharply.

"We need to find out where this entire shipment is going… and who is behind all this."

"Yes, ma'am," Arpita replied.

"All the illegal goods are being transported outside India."

Mishka's eyes narrowed.

"Where exactly?"

"It's not confirmed yet," Arpita said cautiously.

"But as far as we know, it goes to France through different routes."

Mishka slammed the file shut.

"Then confirm it. What are you waiting for?"

"Okay, ma'am," she replied quickly.

"And one more thing… This is the work of a very big mafia. Everything is done so secretly that no proof is left behind."

Mishka took a deep breath, steadying herself.

"Then collect whatever evidence you get," she ordered.

"I'll see what else can be done."

In her mind, a single name surfaced clearly.

Only one person can help me with this.

She picked up her phone and dialed the number.

The call was answered instantly.

"Hello…"

"Hello," came a calm, familiar voice.

A slight smile touched Mishka's lips.

"How are you, Prishu?"

"I'm fine. How are you?" Pritisha asked warmly.

"I'm fine too," Mishka replied.

"Are you free right now? I need a little help."

"Yes, tell me," Pritisha said without hesitation.

"What kind of help?"

"I need information about a criminal," Mishka explained.

"I've already found some details."

"And how can I help you in this?" Pritisha asked calmly.

"Illegal goods from India are being sent to France through different routes," Mishka said.

"But we can't find out who is behind it. I need information about that person."

Pritisha chuckled softly.

"That's such a small help. Give me ten minutes. I'll find out."

Mishka let out a relieved breath.

"Thank you so much. You have no idea how big a help this is. So many innocent people are trapped in this."

"There's no need to say thank you," Pritisha replied confidently.

"If we don't help each other, then who will?"

Mishka laughed lightly.

"True… by the way, when are you coming to India?"

She sighed softly.

"Coming to India is difficult right now. You know… business and all."

Mishka teased her.

"Oh please. You're more worried about Tanish than your business. You can't stay without him. At least remember us sometimes."

Pritisha smiled.

"I'll come to meet you. Now I have some important work. I'll send you all the details by email."

"Okay," Mishka replied.

Mishka ended the call and sat back, taking a deep breath. She opened her email and started going through the files.

Now… he can't escape, she thought grimly.

She organized all the details in one place.

"Keep everything together," she instructed firmly.

Arpita glanced at the files.

"Ma'am, he resides in France."

Mishka's eyes narrowed. " France me hi rhta narak me nhi jo india nhi aa skta. Narak me v rhta to wha se bhi usko le aati..Itna majbur kr dugi rote hua ayega."

(France… so he's hell there. He can't come to India. Even if he lived in hell, I would bring him back from there…But I'll make him so desperate… he'll come crying.)

"Yes, ma'am," she said quietly.

Mishka's voice hardened.

"No one must get their hands on this evidence. Understand? Give me all of it. Someone might try to destroy it… keep your eyes open.

Everyone must think all the proof is still with you."

"Yes, ma'am," Arpita replied.

She handed over all the evidence, and Mishka made sure it was perfectly secure.

Once everything was in place, both of them left for their respective homes, the weight of the situation pressing heavily on their minds.

MEHWISH POV

I come from a business family,

but I wanted to work a job to gain experience ,

something I couldn't get in the family business.

So, I gave many interviews,

but my dream was always to work at Malhotra Group.

I glanced at the time and gasped.

"Oh no… hurry up, Mehwish!" I muttered to myself. "Aaj tera interview h ye job tere liye kitna imp h ."

(Today is your interview. This job is really important for you.)

I practically flew down the stairs.

"Mumma mai ja rhii."

( Mumma, I'm leaving!)

Mumma peeked out from the kitchen " breakfast to kr lo."

"At least have breakfast."

"I'm already late," I said nervously.

"Aaj mera interview h pta h n apko. Bhr kuch kha lugi. Aaise v interview hone ke bd hi mere gale se kuch niche utare ga."

(Today is my interview—you know that. I'll eat something outside. Anyway, I won't be able to swallow anything until the interview is over.)

She smiled softly and brought a spoon of curd mixed with sugar, feeding it to me.

"Now your interview will go well. All the best."

I hugged her tightly.

"Thank you, Mumma. I'm really late now."

Some time later…

At the office

I walked up to the reception desk.

"Ma'am, I have an interview today."

She looked up.

"Your name?"

"Mehwish Raichand."

She checked the list.

"Yes, you're on the list. Please sit there. You'll be called soon."

"Okay, thank you," I said, taking a seat.

I looked around nervously.

So many people are here for the interview… will I even get this job?

One by one, candidates were called inside.

Finally, my turn came.

The moment I entered the cabin, I froze.

My mind went completely blank. It felt like I had lost all my senses.

"Hello, Miss… can you hear me?"

I snapped back to reality.

"Yes, sir. Sorry, sir."

(A/n - aap log pehchne kya ?)

"Where were you lost?" Adwait asked calmly.

"Nowhere, sir," I replied softly, lowering my eyes.

"Let's start the interview," Adwait said.

"Sir, can I drink some water?" I asked nervously.

"Yes, sure."

I took a sip, took a deep breath, and nodded.

"I'm ready now."

After some time, the interview ended.

"You may wait outside," he said.

"We'll inform you shortly."

"Okay, thank you, sir."

After some time…

The names of the selected candidates were announced.

I searched desperately.

My name wasn't there.

What?

How is this possible? I didn't get selected?

My chest tightened, but my eyes filled with determination.

No. I will get this job.

I rushed to the receptionist.

"Ma'am, I need to talk to sir."

"I'm sorry," she replied.

"You can't meet him now."

"Please try to understand," I requested.

"I'll only take five minutes."

"I'm sorry, ma'am. Sir has already left for a meeting."

"When will the meeting end?"

"In one hour."

"Okay… I'll wait."

I sat there silently, staring at the floor.

After one hour

I stood up again.

"Ma'am, sir must be back now. Please let me talk to him once."

"Okay, wait," she said and made a call.

"Sir, a girl has been waiting for you for one hour. She wants to talk to you."

"You know I don't meet anyone after meetings," adwait replied.

Before I could think, I took the phone.

"Sir, please… just five minutes. I won't take more than that. Please."

There was a pause.

"Okay. Come to my cabin."

My face lit up.

"Thank you, sir!"

I rushed inside.

"Yes, speak fast," he said.

"You only have five minutes."

"Sir… why didn't you select me?"

"We selected those who were suitable," adwait replied calmly.

"Sir, what mistake did I make?" I asked desperately.

"I really need this job."

"You should try in another company," he said.

"You'll get a job there."

"But sir, working in this company is my dream."

"I'm sorry," he said firmly.

"I can't give you the job."

"Okay, sir," I said softly and turned to leave ,

still hearing his words. I talk to myself, a little dramatically "Ab mere chhote bhai bahno ka kya hoge unke pdai ke liye Paisa kha se laungi ..buddhe maa papa mujhse kitni ummid thi. Ab kya hoga mai kis muh se ghr jau. Ghar pr sman v le kr jna h. Kon dega mujhe job."

(What will happen to my younger brother and sister?

How will I pay for their studies?

My parents had so many hopes for me…

What will I do now?

How will I go home with this face?

I even have to buy groceries… where will I get money from?

Who will give me a job now?)

"Wait, Miss Mehwish."

I turned back.

"From tomorrow, you can join."

A smirk plastered on my lips .

"But sir… you said there was no vacancy."

"There is one position available," he said calmly.

"You'll have to be my personal assistant."

"Personal assistant?" I repeated, stunned.

"Any problem?" he asked.

"No, sir," I replied instantly.

"Then join tomorrow" he said.

"Yes, sir!" I said excitedly.

"Thank you so much, sir. Sorry, sir. Bye, sir. Have a good day, sir."

I rushed out happily.

Oh God… what nonsense do I say!

Behind me, I didn't see him shake his head with a faint smile.

What a girl… uff.
