Chapter 25 - Chapter 24. Upgrade

Following the system's primary layout, all new members were directed straight to the massive noticeboard standing at the center of the compound. The glowing interface automatically displayed their names alongside their assigned rooms within the residential blocks, which were clearly labeled using letters. The newcomers made their way to the massive, hostel-like buildings, finding well-furnished quarters and running water for a hot shower. Food would have to wait until the scheduled meal service in the restaurant.

While the majority of the survivors settled quietly into their unfamiliar rooms without any known faces to greet them, a single emotional reunion took place in the courtyard. Gao Shen and Cheng Xin stood together after their long separation, holding each other tightly against the backdrop of the safe haven. Meanwhile, Jing Xian and Xue Lili helped direct the spent students to their assigned lettered blocks so everyone could finally rest.

Inside the primary restaurant square, Zhao Yuan finally had a moment to herself.

Since Zhao Yuan had started producing her own goods, she had been too busy to find the time to check the main system checkpoint in the restaurant. After such a long time, she was curious if any other functions had been added or if she had any rewards waiting for her.

Looking at the tasks icon, which had been decorated with a red exclamation mark for a while, she tapped it in anticipation. Her eyes quickly landed on the red trophy icon. Ignoring all the other icons, she quickly tapped on it, ready to be rewarded.

Seeing the screen fill up with red congratulatory notices, she felt like laughing as she waited for the notices to stop before she started receiving her rewards. This time she received so many tickets that she felt confused as she looked at the long numbers displayed above the screen. Looking at the still-blinking reward notifications, she continued receiving them, feeling happy that she could now receive essential resources like land, seeds, ores, and gems.

So when her finger tapped on the upgrade icon that suddenly appeared among the rewards, her brain took a minute to process what had just happened.

As she sat there feeling curious, the ground beneath her feet shook violently.

Looking around the shaking room, she wondered what was happening as she held on firmly to the counter.

Everyone in the compound was relaxing in their hostel rooms when they felt the sudden quake, making them panic. As some customers started to prepare themselves to lose their new home, their eyes were blinded by a bright white flash outside their windows.

Some daredevils, feeling curious, stepped forward to their windows and looked outside.

In the circle, something seemed to be happening as the previously empty space remodeled itself into a green, beautifully decorated park. Seeing fountains and gazebos appear out of nowhere made them question their sanity. As they focused on the circle, the earth outside the shelter shook fiercely before clearing itself out and developing roads and paths leading directly to the shelter.

Zhao Yuan would only find out about the new electric fence surrounding the city's residential area after other customers arrived later.

Currently, she was busy looking around the room suspiciously before she let go of the counter and stood on her feet. The restaurant had transformed right in front of her, leaving her looking like she had been beaten up from dodging flying items. But seeing the final look, she decided not to overreact as she stared at the next upgrade icon calling to her.

Even though she was really tempted, she decided not to tap it as she closed the still-filled rewards icon and visited the warehouse to see if there were any changes.

The previously endless warehouse became even more vast, making her feel dizzy as she tried to see the end of it. Most of the things were still covered by thick fog, making her sigh before visiting the fields.

They were massive. Looking around at the endless rows of tilled soil, she felt like screaming as she wondered who was supposed to care for so much land. Remembering her still bountiful shoots and warehouse, she flipped her hair and left, pushing this into the back of her mind.

Her next stop was the circle, where the curious customers had gathered, touching things here and there. Seeing her come out, they all wondered if she was responsible. Even though they wanted to ask, no one stepped up as they all looked away shyly.

Ignoring the curious gazes, Zhao Yuan walked around the newly renovated circle, feeling it resembled the game a little more. Shaking her head, she wondered if anything had happened outside.

Being a person of action, she quickly walked to the back of the restaurant, which now had a whole new look featuring a terminal-like structure. Feeling curious, she quickly walked in and was impressed by the clean, advanced terminal.

If she was not wrong, she could teleport her customers anywhere. Looking at the map icon above one of the terminals, she smirked as she realized she could enjoy some free labor.
