Chapter 103 - Chapter 103: Everyone Is Part of This Team!

Breaking News: Liverpool Youngster Lin Buys a Luxury Mansion!

Footballers' Money-Making Power Is Unmatched!

Firmino Posts an Accusation: Lin Broke Into His Home Like a Burglar and Took Every Usable Household Tool.

Salah Updates a Photo: Living Near Firmino, He Locks His Door and Captions It—Lin, Please Don't Come Looking for Me for Three Days.

News of Leo Lin's home purchase quickly shot to the top of the trending charts, leaving fans stunned by just how fast top players could accumulate wealth.

After only half a season, Leo Lin had already bought a jaw-droppingly luxurious mansion. Even by Liverpool standards, it ranked among the most elite and expensive properties in the area.

After successfully buying the place—and climbing in through the back gardens of Firmino's and Salah's houses—Leo Lin stocked up on all the essentials for daily life. With everything ready, he officially moved in.

The world suddenly felt much quieter. Leo Lin no longer had to worry about overzealous female fans knocking on his windows in the middle of the night. Though, perhaps, that was a bit of a shame…

Liverpool pressed on with their schedule as the Premier League entered Round 17. Their opponents were Burnley, a team battling relegation this season.

The opposition was weak and, so far, statistically the worst defensive side in the league.

As a result, Klopp fielded a fully rotated lineup.

After kickoff, the rotation players and young prospects traded blows with Burnley. The contest was close, but Liverpool still held the overall advantage.

The broadcast camera kept cutting to the bench, almost as if the substitutes were the ones playing, not the players on the pitch.

There was a simple reason for that—Liverpool's bench looked absurdly stacked.

"This has to be one of the most expensive benches in Europe right now. We see Salah and Firmino sitting next to Leo Lin. The three of them look relaxed, chatting quietly. Who knows what they're talking about—maybe Salah wants to clear his name."

Jim Beglin laughed as he said this. After all, the story about Leo Lin climbing through Salah's back garden had already become a fan favorite.

Given how close the players were, supporters treated it all as a running joke.

Liverpool continued to play attacking football, but young winger Ibi still suffered from his most fatal flaw.

30th minute!

"Emre Can controls the ball through the middle, driving forward at pace!"

"He slips a through pass!"

"Ibi makes a reverse run and breaks in one-on-one!"

"He shoots!!!"

"Oh my word! He's missed it!"

"Dribbles like Messi, finishing like Heskey. That twist and feint before the shot was beautiful—he completely fooled the Burnley defender!"

"But the shot itself was soft and harmless, straight into the goalkeeper's arms."

"It's the same old problem for Ibi. His finishing in the final moment is still very poor and needs serious work."

By halftime, Liverpool had taken five shots, four of them on target, yet still hadn't found the net.

Klopp had no intention of making substitutions, and Krawietz fully agreed.

"I won't be making changes in the second half. Even if you draw or lose, if you want more opportunities to compete for a starting place, you need to prove it to me over the next forty-five minutes."

On one hand, Klopp wanted to use this match to strengthen Liverpool's bench. For a team potentially fighting on four fronts, rotation players were just as important.

Even the strongest workhorse needed time to graze and drink water.

On the other hand, the EFL Cup quarterfinals were fast approaching.

Liverpool's opponent would be the formidable Manchester United. Their first league meeting of the season had already been a bruising affair.

This time, the stakes were even higher—a place in the EFL Cup semifinals.

United would go all out, and Klopp needed to make sure his key players were in peak condition for that battle.

The second half resumed quickly. Klopp stayed seated, making no substitutions.

Still, no goals came. Liverpool seized full control of the attack, pinning Burnley deep in their own half.

They pressed and ground Burnley down relentlessly, but when it came to the decisive moment, they simply couldn't break through. The Liverpool fans grew increasingly anxious.

"More than a dozen shots already, and still no goal. Does nobody have their shooting boots on?"

"You get this many chances and can't score? Useless!"

"Make a change already! Why aren't the starters coming on? There's not much time left!"

Fans couldn't help but glance toward the bench. The star players sitting there all looked serious, no laughter, no chatter.

Everyone was tense, watching the situation unfold. If this match ended in a draw, Manchester City could very well leapfrog them again.

But Klopp had made up his mind. He wasn't making any substitutions.

72nd minute.

"Corner for Liverpool from the right, swung toward the far post—Wijnaldum gets his head to it!"

"Wide!"

"Oh my goodness! That should have been a certain goal!"

"They're still wasting chances, and time is really running out!"

As Wijnaldum's header drifted wide, Leo Lin on the bench clutched his head in disbelief. The crowd let out a collective gasp.

The seconds ticked by, and Liverpool still hadn't scored.

Even Leo Lin couldn't help screaming inwardly.

"Just one damn goal! Just one damn goal is all it takes!"

Right as he was shouting in his head, a sharp whistle cut through the stadium.

"Beep!!!"

"Foul!"

"Ibi beats the offside trap, breaks into the box, and is brought down by the defender!"

"Liverpool are awarded a penalty—at last, a truly golden opportunity!"

The young Ibi picked up the ball, clearly intending to take the penalty himself. Watching him step up, Leo Lin felt his palms begin to sweat.

Beside him, Salah grabbed Leo Lin's thigh, trying to calm his own nerves.

Ibi stood over the ball and took a deep breath. This was his final chance to redeem himself.

"Ibi starts his run-up!"

"He strikes it!"

"It's in!!!"

"Brilliant!"

...

The match came to an end. Thanks to Ibi's penalty, Liverpool scraped past Burnley. But Klopp had achieved exactly what he wanted.

Every one of Liverpool's starters had been rested. With the Premier League approaching its halfway point, Liverpool had all but secured the half-season title.

Next, their focus would shift fully to the EFL Cup. They were now just three matches away from lifting the trophy.

If everything went smoothly, it would be Liverpool's first piece of silverware this season.

Liverpool's hunger for trophies was intense, and Klopp was fully committed to that pursuit.

Still, some fans began to question Klopp's tactics. The near slip-up against Burnley left many confused.

Some criticized his refusal to make substitutions. Klopp simply smiled and offered no explanation.

Certain truths were understood only by him and Krawietz. A squad has twenty-three players, not just eleven, because you can't rely solely on your starters to win matches.

You have to make those rotation players understand that they, too, are part of this team.

A win like this would inject them with confidence—and that was Klopp's true objective.
