Kuro arrived, looking exhausted."between the hostel and you, I get no peace! My entire salary is going to Vanish just repairing walls and buying new clothes. And Kai hasn't send any money either."
At the mention of Kai,Emma grabbed kuro by the collar." Were you taking money from him for me?"
Kuro steadied himself. "No, He knew I couldn't support you alone, so he paid me a salary to look after things".
"How dare he!" Emma screamed." Everyone knows it's not his fault. Why is he hiding from me ?"
The stress caused her to vomit blood again. Kuro pulled her into a hug."calm down, little sister. I wan't mention his name again."
Emma's condition worsened, and her medicine was empty. Kuro couldn't leave her alone, so he called Haiku. When Haiku arrived with the medicine and sow her state, he broke into tears.
Scene shift:
Next day, New year. Tokyo was ablaze with lights. The sun rose over decorated homes as people played games. But Emma and kuro sat in a grumpy silence, refusing to speak.
Angel, monster, and Haiku arrived. "Let's head to the temple to make your wishes and wash away this bad luck!".
At the temple, a photo fell out of Emma's pocket. It showed 10 people, but 6 faces had been cut out. Haruto picked it up.
( Who do I ask? Haiku is psycho, monster wan't answer, and kuro will just interrogate me. Angel is the best bet).
Haruto pulled Angel aside. "Who are this people? Are the five of you in this photo?"
Angel hesitated."I can't say. "Haruto pushed,"just tell me if the five of you are here." Angel replied, "Not five only four of us."
Haruto asked,"Emma looks so happy here. Why isn't she like that anymore?"
Angel sighed. "It started with her parents divorce. But what happened to Deccan and what Jack did...Emma hasn't been able to forget."
Haruto ask his final question. "If there's a monster in this and why isn't monster in the photo?"
Angel said yes" And said that he was not in the photo and explain everything ,"when monster was 7, his mother was teaching him' Twinkle Twinkle Little Star! They had only reached the second line when psychos broke in and killed his parents. My father saved him. The killers called him 'weak' as they left. Now, he only recites those lines when he fights. He fall in love ones, but she betrayed him, making him even colder. But he's good at heart, he just eat my chocolates without asking."
Haruto asked," how was Deccan to Emma?" Angels eyes flared with anger.
She snatched the photo and chosed him away. Haruto shivered -( Great, she's a psycho too!)
Scene shift:
Everyone shared thier wishes. Emma has always, wished for him brother's safety. They used to share so much love, but one terrible act destroyed everything.
Emma returned to her apartment to find the letter: " Emma, you built a gang and didn't tell me? Have you forgotten your greatest enemy?"
Emma pondered:(who is this? God knows how many people I crossed in the past. Whatever... I'll deal with it tomorrow. Training starts then.)
Standing on her balcony. She spotted
A girl in a hoodie staring at her. Emma emirked -"how foolish. Does she really think I can't see her?"
Emma sighed, looking at the distant city lights. " I couldn't even make it to doctor today. I'll have to go tomorrow,"she muttered. Her fingers brushed against a letter she had found earlier "I'll read this latter."she whispered, tucking it away.
The next morning
The sterile smell of the clinic felt heavy. Dr Jaya looked at Emma with a stern. Warried expression."Emma, if you keep taking this much stress, it's going to become a serious problem. You are putting your very life at risk".
Emma didn't respond. her mind was alread elsewhere.
The training ground
The sun was high, but the air felt cold. Emma arrived at the field to find the team alread waiting.
"Is everyone here for training?"she asked, her voice hallow.
"Yes," one of them replied."since it's Sunday, everyone arrived early today."
Emma begin the session. See look the exhausted, har moments quite and mechanical. If was clear she was lost in deep thought on the field, Haiku and her to were mid-spar. After a fierce exchange, haruto hit the ground, defeated.
Suddenly ,oka appeared.
Emma didn't even look up."I'm in no more to fight today,oka. If your brother come with you, tell him to leave.
To her surprise, oka fell to his knees, tears streaming down his face"Forgive me, Emma! Please... please save my mother!"
Emma Froze
"He's not my brother,"oka Sobbed."He's my best friend . He knows I'm the number one fighter, so he kidnapped my mother. He told me if I didn't defeat you, He'll kill her!"
Emma's eyes sharpened, the exhaustion momentally replaced by a cold fire."I'll there with him. Can you help us with the training for now!"
Oka nodded frantically and begin training the group with a new found disperation.
The 9th-the day of reckoning
Emma stood toll. Dressed sharply in a black suit. The movement kourtw appeared before her, say didn't wait for wards. She lunged, her strikes brutal and unforgiving her team followed suit, engaging the rest of the enemy group in a chaotic brawl.
Emma was relentless. She rained blows down on kurtow , her expression shifting into something dark-almost psychopathic."you too lay a hand on me that day?"she hissed, striking him again."try it now! Show me what you've got!"
Finally kartow laybroken, Barely clinging to life.
"You last, Emma growled, leaning over him." Now keep your promise. Tell me... How did my sister die?"
Kurtow open his mouth to speak, The secret finally at the tip of his tongue.
